In the story, Colter has returned to Echo Ridge, as hinted by the title, and embarks on a puzzling journey across town, uncovering clues about Ashton’s demise. This investigation ultimately leads him to visit Murphy’s uncle’s place in search of information regarding his father’s carvings. The one person willing to provide Colter with clear answers appears to be an individual named Otto.
Actually, it appears that he’s taken an interest in Colter solely after learning he’s Ashton’s son. He encourages Colter to ask anything he wants when it comes to questions about his father. He mentions that he first met Ashton when the county tasked him with installing power on the ridge where the Shaw family resided.
In simpler terms, “We had a decent relationship. I intervened to prevent trouble for him with the county. One evening, we were conversing, and I expressed my admiration for his carvings. He became angry and threw one at me.” Otto then said, “But that’s not what brought you here, is it? The accident…
In a surprising twist later in the episode, it’s revealed that Mary, who had been preparing breakfast and doing laundry for Colter earlier, was actually responsible for Ashton’s demise all along, as she brandishes a gun at him.
In February 2025, Tracker Season 3 was officially confirmed for renewal. This means that Mary’s backstory as a villain will be further developed and explained. As of now, the reasons behind Mary’s desire to kill Ashton remain unclear, whether it is connected to some larger government conspiracy that Colter is yet to expose or if the phone number found in Episode 19 holds any significance at all.
