Nintendo Issues Statement On Mario Kart World AI Image Speculation

Mario Kart World does not include AI-generated images, according to a new statement from Nintendo.

Some spectators pondered if the initial games for Switch 2 could feature artificial intelligence images, inspired by footage exhibited during a recent Nintendo Treehouse broadcast, where peculiar billboards raised a few red flags about AI. However, in an interview with Eurogamer, Nintendo aimed to quell these speculations.

According to a representative from Nintendo, no AI-created visuals were involved during the creation process of Mario Kart World.

The questionable images were advertisements displaying slogans such as “We Construct Your Community” or “We Realize Your Dreams”, accompanied by peculiar scenes, such as an unfinished skyscraper featuring unusual pathways. Additionally, there was another image that left spectators puzzled – it depicted a car with unusually large windows and tiny wheels, reminiscent of what a creative AI might produce.

Before Mario Kart World officially launches, it’s plausible that what was demonstrated during the gameplay stream could be preliminary or incomplete visuals. However, since Nintendo’s statement appears quite decisive, concerned fans about AI art in the $80 game can find reassurance (although Nintendo hasn’t been clear on their reasoning behind the price).
