However, given that he aims to release his upcoming game, Haunted Chocolatier, within the next five years, it might be some time before we see Stardew Valley 2.
On Bobby Lee’s TigerBelly podcast (as reported by GamesRadar), Barone was questioned about why he doesn’t simply create Stardew Valley 2. The mastermind behind Stardew Valley shared his reasons for preferring updates over starting a brand-new game. “It’s far simpler to just expand Stardew Valley rather than creating an entirely new game from the ground up,” explained Barone. “Stardew Valley, all its primary structures are already established.”
However, Barone hinted at a possible sequel for Stardew Valley in the future, as he mentioned, “In truth, I might create Stardew Valley 2.” Before diving into that project, though, he wishes to explore new creative avenues by developing Haunted Chocolatier.
As a devoted admirer of Stardew Valley, I can’t help but acknowledge that we shouldn’t hold our breath for an immediate sequel. Eric Barone, the mastermind behind this enchanting game, has shifted his focus towards another captivating project called Haunted Chocolatier. Given the extensive work he poured into Stardew Valley 1.6, it’s no wonder he’s drawn to this new venture.
