WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for Poker Face season 2, episode 1.
In the debut episode of season 2 titled “The Game is a Foot” on Poker Face, we encounter several new characters led by Cynthia Erivo portraying various roles, along with Natasha Lyonne’s character, Charlie Cale. This first episode, released as part of a triple-episode drop on May 8th, 2025, exclusively on Peacock, introduces Amber Kazinsky, one of five identical siblings played by Cynthia Erivo. Despite being considered the biggest failure by her mother, Norma, Amber has been caring for her ailing mother.
It comes to light that Norma intends to distribute her entire inheritance to an enigmatic woman named Felicity Price, who is later revealed to be Amber’s identical long-lost sister and a talented one-legged artist. Upon encountering Felicity, Amber hastens Norma’s demise and also ends Felicity’s life, intending to impersonate her to claim the inheritance. However, there’s a twist: Felicity only had one leg and used a prosthetic, which ultimately thwarts Amber’s scheme. Prior to Charlie getting involved through Amber’s sister Delia, Amber had orchestrated Felicity’s death to appear as if she herself had perished, placing her body near some train tracks at the base of a cliff, suggesting that “Amber’s” leg had been crushed and amputated.
Poker Face Season 2 Episode 1 Cast & Cameo Guide
Who Stars In “The Game Is A Foot”
In her remarkable portrayal from the praised Wicked, Cynthia Erivo plays all five sisters, each of whom is uniquely styled and characterized. The sisters, consisting of four Kazinskys and Felicity Price, may appear alike physically, but they each possess a distinct style and personality. In season 2 of Poker Face, Jodie Lynne switches her blonde hair for red as she continues her nationwide escape from one of the leaders of the Five Families introduced in season 1 of Poker Face. The relatively compact cast of Poker Face season 2, episode 1 can be attributed to Erivo’s versatile acting abilities.
In every episode of Poker Face, Natasha Lyonne portrays the charismatic lead character Charlie Cale. She possesses an extraordinary knack for sniffing out dishonesty, a trait that frequently lands her in complex predicaments. Beyond this role, she has gained recognition for her performances in Russian Doll and Orange is the New Black, both of which garnered Emmy nominations. Moreover, Lyonne has been featured in the acclaimed film His Three Daughters and played Jessica in the 1999 hit comedy American Pie.
Known for her Oscar-nominated roles in ‘Harriet’ (2019) and the future ‘Wicked’ (2024), Cynthia Erivo will once again step into the spotlight, this time as Elphaba in the upcoming sequel ‘Wicked: For Good’.
In the first episode of season 2 for “Poker Face”, Jasmine Guy portrays Amber’s ailing mother, Norma. Hailing from Boston, this versatile actress is widely recognized for her performances in films like “Harlem Nights” and series such as “Harlem” and “The Vampire Diaries”.
In a straightforward manner, actor Jin Ha portrays Paul Fletcher, a character who can’t help but speak truthfully. At the outset of the episode, he (illegally) discloses Norma’s intention to bequeath her inheritance to Felicity Price. Jin Ha is recognized for his performances in shows like “Only Murders in the Building,” “Pachinko,” and “Civil War.
Who Killed Felicity In Poker Face Season 2 Episode 1
Amber Kills Felicity By Throwing Her Off A Remote Cliff
In the second season of “Poker Face,” episode 1, it is Amber – Felicity’s long-lost sister – who ends up taking Felicity’s life. Upon meeting Felicity in Vermont for the first time, Amber learns that Felicity was unaware she even had a sister, let alone four identical ones. Sadly, Felicity, a secluded mixed-media artist residing in rural Vermont, doesn’t live long after Amber’s discovery. Following Norma’s death, Amber extends an invitation to Felicity to her estate, but their reunion is short-lived and tragic.
A week after their initial encounter at Norma’s estate, next to a steep cliff, Felicity encounters Amber again. Remarkably, Amber is still dressed just as she was during that first meeting. Meanwhile, Felicity had received an email about Norma’s inheritance from lawyer Paul before noticing that Amber has mimicked her exact outfit, causing Felicity to feel uneasy immediately. Without hesitation, Amber launches an attack on Felicity and pushes her off the cliff, resulting in Felicity’s untimely demise.
In the narrative I’m about to share, it’s me, Amber, speaking. You see, in a rather twisted turn of events, I create a video, pretending it’s a farewell message, staging a phony suicide for my sisters. The goal? To make it seem like Felicity, not me, has passed away. Here’s the catch: if successful, I would assume Felicity’s identity and lay claim to Norma’s inheritance, which, in my mind, is rightfully mine due to years of unacknowledged dedication and service.
Why Amber Took Felicity’s Identity In Poker Face
Norma Left Her Entire Fortune To Felicity
Amber devised a scheme to assume Felicity’s persona in order to claim Norma’s property and wealth since the latter unfairly excluded her four acknowledged daughters from her will in favor of Felicity, who was not particularly close with Norma but was apparently admired for her artistic talents. With no house or funds, Amber seemed to lack purpose in life. However, she professes to be an artist herself, yet hasn’t made much progress in her career.
Amber chooses to adopt Felicity’s persona, expressing this to Felicity before ending her life, as she yearns for the lifestyle and personality that Felicity embodies. This desire, along with the intention to claim Norma’s belongings, served as Amber’s primary incentive for assuming Felicity’s identity. Essentially, Amber finds joy in emulating a person she envies and aspires to be, much like the sinister con artist portrayed by Andrew Scott in Netflix’s “Ripley.” Amber resorts to murder and identity theft to seize the life she covets.
How Charlie Figured Out Felicity’s Murder
She Proves Amber’s Prosthetic Leg Was A Fake
In Poker Face season 2, episode 1, Charlie makes an appearance via Delia – a calm and rational sibling of Amber. Charlie strikes up a friendship with Delia at their shared workplace, an apple orchard. Delia shares with Charlie that they were once the lead actors on an old TV show named Kid Cop Nights, which leaves Charlie astounded. Upon uncovering that Norma had been a harsh and exploitative mother who misused her daughters’ TV earnings, Charlie accompanies Delia to Norma’s funeral home, where she encounters the other sisters, Bebe and Cece, and finds out that “Amber” has sadly passed away.
Charlie uncovers Amber’s deception, posing as Felicity, by noticing inconsistencies in her story. Upon examining her art magazine, Charlie finds a pattern – all the pieces depict feet. This detail, along with some detective work, leads Charlie to deduce that the genuine Felicity had lost a leg in a car accident with her gambling-addicted father many years prior. Charlie confronts Amber and demands proof of her disability, given the striking similarity between their stories.
In the opening scene of Poker Face season 2, episode 1, Amber cleverly disguises her real condition by pretending to have a prosthetic leg. However, when Charlie carelessly drops a broken trophy from their past child acting days onto Amber’s foot, causing it to bleed profusely, her true identity is exposed. Despite the police arriving shortly after to verify that the deceased body wasn’t actually Amber’s, her secret was already revealed.
