Actress Michelle Rodriguez, famously known for her roles in franchises, and Richard Gere of the show “The Agency” are joining forces for an upcoming air disaster-themed suspense movie under the direction of Ben Younger.
According to recent reports, the actors Rodriguez and Gere will feature in the upcoming movie titled “Left Seat”. This film is classified as a thrilling tale of plane survival. Younger, who has previously directed films such as “Bleed for This” and “Prime”, is at the helm for this project. The script was written by David M. Crabtree. In essence, the movie centers around a pharmaceutical representative (Rodriguez) who is compelled to take over a small charter plane when the pilot loses consciousness during flight. To avoid crashing due to fuel exhaustion and treacherous storms, she enlists the aid of an unknown person (Gere) via radio communication in navigating the aircraft safely to its destination.
The movie titled “Left Seat” is produced by Jason Michael Berman, who gained fame as the producer of Ben Affleck’s films “Air” and “Surrounded“, and the western featuring Black Panther‘s star. Berman is also working on the upcoming Spike Lee-Denzel Washington project, “Highest 2 Lowest“, for which the first teaser trailer has been released. In a statement about “Left Seat“, Berman expressed his excitement about collaborating with its leads, Rodriguez and Gere, stating that it is a “dream come true.” No official release date for “Left Seat” has been set yet.

Beyond her next movie titled “Left Seat,” Rodriguez will also return as Letty Ortiz in “Fast X: Part 2,” scheduled for theater release around 2026. This film is the last installment in the series, but there’s been debate about its production timeline. It seems that filming hasn’t started yet on this much-anticipated finale, as suggested by a statement made by “Fast X” star Alan Ritchson back in February. He mentioned that the sequel might face delays due to scheduling issues, which could potentially push back the release date of “Fast X: Part 2.”
In the current streaming lineup on Paramount+ with Showtime, Rodriguez’s fellow actor from the show “Left Seat”, Gere, currently stars in “The Agency” series. This series, which concluded its first season in January, has been a hit and was renewed for a second season. Notable co-stars of Gere include Jeffrey Wright, Katherine Waterson, and Jodie Turner-Smith. However, there is no confirmed release date for “The Agency” Season 2 yet.
