In The Devil’s Plan Season 2, also known as Death Room, the contestants are in for an intense competition where they strive to claim a substantial monetary reward. However, the exact amount they could win remains to be seen.
In a fresh lineup, the Netflix show is back with harder contests, increased treachery, and an escalating reward system, all unfolding amid the dynamic landscape of its constantly shifting prize money.
Caution: This isn’t quite like Squid Game: The Challenge, which broke records by offering a prize of $4.56 million – the second largest in reality TV, surpassed only by Beast Games.
To clarify, The Devil’s Plan Season 2 promises an enormous reward, one whose size hinges on the success of their endeavors.
The Devil’s Plan cash prize explained
In the same vein as Season 1, The Devil’s Plan for Season 2 has a top reward of 500 million South Korean won, which is approximately $359,000. This is a substantial sum, given that there will only be a single winner to receive it.
Just as in Squid Game, the pot for the winnings initially stands at nothing. Inside each contest, there’s a secret goal known as a “prize mission.” If the competitors manage to fulfill the requirements of this mission, they can claim a significant portion of the prize fund and increase their total winnings.
In the initial game called “Crooked Cops,” a prize of approximately $71,800 (100 million won) is up for grabs. If they manage to complete the game within 10 rounds, they’ll take home the entire amount. However, if they exceed 10 rounds, $14,350 (20 million won) will be deducted per additional round played.
Season 2 prize fund so far
So far in The Devil’s Plan Season 2 Part 1, the players have contributed $57,530 (roughly 80 million won) towards the total prize money of $143,800 (200 million won).
If you’re curious about the relatively small winnings, it’s because they performed admirably in their initial game. In total, they played 11 rounds, leaving them with a reduction of just 20 million won out of the original 100 million prize money.
In the second game, titled Unknown, players will pocket 100 million won each if they are knocked out. Since no one was eliminated in this round, the total prize pool currently stands at 80 million won.
The Devil’s Plan Season 1 winner
Amongst the twelve competitors in the first season of “The Devil’s Plan,” it was actor Ha Seok-jin who emerged victorious, taking home a grand prize of 250 million won, which is equivalent to approximately $179,700.
Instead of immediately using the funds, Seok-jin had previously expressed on his YouTube channel last year that he intended to distribute his winnings among his fellow players.
To be clear, I didn’t win the prize money alone; it was a collective effort. A group of 12 gamers joined forces with a dedicated production team to create an epic 12-episode series. As the victor, I felt it was fitting to share some of the winnings with my fellow competitors who made this journey so thrilling.
In essence, he commissioned unique gold coins specifically for The Devi’s Plan’s cast and crew. Furthermore, when speaking with Yahoo!, he expressed his intention of utilizing the funds for charitable purposes, aiming to aid not only himself but also others.
For each person, it seems like finding a harmony (between saving and growing wealth) is important. Noticing many older professionals, they often struggle to find this equilibrium when it comes to their spending and investing habits,” he shared with the publication.
I prefer to maintain a sense of contentment rather than accumulating excessive wealth. A moderate amount of resources, sufficient for my daily needs and comfortable lifestyle, is what I aspire to have.
The first part of The Devil’s Plan Season 2 is now available on Netflix for streaming. The second half will be released on May 13. In addition, you can find out about viewer feedback, a potential crossover with Single’s Inferno, and other upcoming TV shows to look forward to in 2025.
