Enthusiasts who are eagerly awaiting Mike Flanagan’s upcoming movie may not get the DC horror project exactly as he envisioned it, since it appears that a different screenwriter, known for films like “Drive” and “The Wings of the Dove,” has been enlisted to rewrite the script. The specifics of these rewrites are yet unknown, but they’re likely to be significant enough that Flanagan’s original vision for the movie may not be realized as intended by the directors of “The Haunting of Hill House” and “Doctor Sleep.

As reported by The Wrap, the movie focused on the villain is set for a makeover before filming begins in the U.K. this October under the guidance of James Watkins. Mike Flanagan has experienced significant success over the past decade as the mastermind behind numerous hit Netflix series such as Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher, and The Haunting of Hill House. His talent extends beyond these projects, as he has also worked on multiple Stephen King adaptations, including The Life of Chuck starring Tom Hiddleston, and will proceed with a new Carrie adaptation and an ambitious Dark Tower project.

It seems that Flanagan’s script for the Clayface movie in the DC Universe isn’t quite meeting James Gunn and Peter Safran’s expectations, despite Gunn previously commending it as one of the best scripts for any DCU project. This possible setback could open up the opportunity for Clayface to join the roster as a last-minute inclusion.
