Although Bungie is gearing up for Marathon’s release in September, it doesn’t signal a halt in updates for Destiny 2. In fact, during their presentation today, they unveiled the Fate Saga, the upcoming series of updates for the online shooter. This saga encompasses the next four significant updates scheduled up to 2026, with the first expansion dropping on July 15th of this year: The Edge of Fate.

Earlier today, the entire live broadcast was held on Destiny 2’s YouTube channel for approximately an hour. The stream showcased multiple gameplay trailers and cinematics, giving fans a sneak peek into the upcoming expansions. This is somewhat different from how Destiny 2 updates have traditionally been rolled out. Instead of getting one annual expansion, players can now anticipate two smaller expansions each year. The first one, titled “The Edge of Fate,” is set to launch in July, followed by “Renegades” on December 2nd, 2025. This recent update has generated a lot of buzz due to its apparent connection to Star Wars.

This year, each significant chapter will have its own set of updates. The game Ash & Iron is scheduled to launch on September 9th, falling within the scope of the Edge of Fate chapter. Fast forward to next March, during the Renegades expansion, we’ll see the release of an update called Shadow & Order. As for 2026, fans of Destiny can anticipate the summer expansion titled Shattered Cycle and the winter expansion named The Alchemist.
