There may be spoilers in the rest of the review
The narrative begins as James (Ashitgo), accompanied by his family, Jane (Lee) and daughter Kayla (Fuller), triumphs in a competition granting them a trip to Lake Lanier. Alongside other families, they are chosen for this experience, with Daniel Wilson (Collins) and his family playing the gracious hosts.
In a twist of events, I found myself immersed in a tale where the lore surrounding the tranquil lake unfolds before my eyes. It’s up to me, as James, to safeguard my loved ones amidst this escalating mystery. Meanwhile, Daniel grapples with his inner turmoil and the sinister entities of the lake continue their relentless pursuit, seeking new victims.
Verdict on Lanier
Recap
The film centers around a family who are awarded a vacation at a lakeside retreat. Yet, they uncover a larger mystery unfolding nearby, which ultimately leads to significant issues not only for them but also for those involved in it.
Best Parts
As a cinephile, I can’t help but be drawn into the enigma surrounding the lake, steeped in historical heartache and shrouded in mystery. Each scene leaves me yearning for more, questioning if there are hidden truths lurking beneath the surface of this vacation. The movie doesn’t shy away from unexpected twists, making it crystal clear that the events unfolding throughout our getaway aren’t as innocent as they seem.
Worst Parts
The problems arise when dramatic moments fall flat due to prior knowledge about events. It strips away the intrigue of the masked character’s identity, as the mystery is prematurely revealed. This method doesn’t resonate, and although we anticipate further developments in the confrontation, no hints are provided beforehand.
Final Thoughts –Lanier struggles to maintain the suspense.
