Insidious: The Red Door Cast – Which Familiar Faces Return and Who Plays the New Demons?

Insidious: The Crimson Portal
In this fifth installment of the highly acclaimed horror series, we find ourselves rejoining beloved franchise figures as they embark on their most treacherous and perilous journey yet. The Insidious films have built a reputation for their heart-stopping jump scares and chilling ambiance, placing them among the scariest and most nerve-wracking horror movies of recent times. This latest offering promises to be equally terrifying, as it unfolds with patriarch Josh Lambert accompanying his son Dalton to an esteemed East Coast institution, only to find themselves tormented by malevolent spirits.

The film “Insidious: The Red Door” is unique as it marks the directorial debut of Patrick Wilson, who has previously acted in both “Insidious” and “Insidious: Chapter 2“. As a seasoned franchise actor, he was an ideal choice to step into the director’s role. Although the film had all the ingredients to be the scariest movie in the series, particularly with its star at the helm, it failed to meet expectations critically and commercially. Despite this, it still delivered some effective scares within the franchise.

This story unfolds nine years after his possession, and Josh has suppressed his memories of The Further. His marriage has ended, and his bond with his son Dalton has grown tense. However, when Dalton is drawn once more into The Further, Josh must rally to rescue him. Interestingly, Wilson not only stars in this movie but also assumes the role of director.

It’s worth noting that the actress was not yet born when the first movie was filmed, and previously, her role was portrayed by twins. However, in “Insidious: The Red Door,” she is noticeably older. Nonetheless, her part remains relatively minor, as it is her brothers and father who predominantly engage in the ongoing struggle against entities from The Further.

Lin Shaye As Elise Rainier

Lin Shaye is often recognized as a horror film queen due to her numerous roles in scary movies. However, her career in horror films extends beyond these recent roles and includes iconic ones like A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), Critters (1986), 2001 Maniacs (2005), and another version of The Grudge (2020). She assisted the Lamberts in their time of need by helping them communicate with the spirits that tormented them. Later, she became the main character in two prequel films, “Insidious: Chapter 3” and “Insidious: The Last Key”. Interestingly, despite her demise at the end of the original “Insidius”, Rainier makes a return in the fifth installment, hailing from the realm of the supernatural.

Insidious: The Red Door Supporting Cast & Characters

The Best Of The Rest

In the movie “Insidious: The Red Door,” Hiam Abbass portrays Professor Armagan. She is Dalton’s art teacher at college, where he sketches the Red Door, marking the beginning of another round of terrors. Notably, she is recognized for her role as Marcia Roy in the popular HBO series “Succession.” Additionally, she has appeared in other notable productions such as Freysa in “Blade Runner 2049” and Marie Claude Hamshari in Steven Spielberg’s “Munich.

In the fifth “Insidious” movie, Sinclair Daniel takes on a significant supporting role under the character name Chris Winslow, who is Dalton’s college friend. She stands by Dalton during his attempt to astral project, becoming the initial target of the demon in the film. This project marks one of her first leading roles in a feature-length movie, but she has previously made appearances on television shows like “Bull” and “Madam Secretary,” where she portrayed Clara Williams and Mia Costello respectively.

As a devoted fan, I’d like to share that Peter Dager portrayed the character, Nick the Dick, in the “Insidious: The Red Door” cast. Nick is a friend of Chris and Dalton, showing up to try and resuscitate Chris after she’s under demonic attack. Prior to this role, Peter Dager has graced our screens as Harris in “WITS Academy” on Nickelodeon and Miguelito in “Demente Criminal”.

Joseph Bishara is known for his roles as the Lipstick-Face Demon in the Insidious series, where he also provided music composition for all the films. He reprised his demonic antagonist role once more in Insidious: The Red Door. Besides his work on the Insidious movies, Bishara has been responsible for the music in The Conjuring films and Malignant, as well as appearing on-screen as Bathsheba in The Conjuring, a demonic entity in Annabelle, and the Annabelle Demon in Annabelle: Creation.
