Previously, the star of “White Lotus” has made it known that she’s keen on portraying the ruthless Wall Street banker in a movie adaptation. In 2024, in response to a post by EbMaster about Guadagnino’s work on a new “American Psycho” film, Schwarzenegger expressed her desire for the role by simply saying, “My aspiration.
In late 2024, EbMaster broke the news exclusively that Butler might have been negotiating for the lead role of Patrick Bateman in Guadagnino’s “American Psycho,” a part initially played by Christian Bale in 2000. Yet, no significant progress has been seen regarding Butler’s involvement in the movie, leaving room for another actor to possibly take on the role. Initially, there were whispers that Jacob Elordi could be up for the part of Bateman, but it seems that deal didn’t materialize.
Back in October 2024, I was thrilled to hear about Guadagnino’s upcoming adaptation of “American Psycho.” Known for his exceptional storytelling, Scott Z. Burns will be penning the script. Unlike a remake of Mary Harron’s iconic cult classic, this film promises to be an entirely fresh interpretation of Easton Ellis’ 1991 novel. Lionsgate is set to bring this exciting project to life.
