Millie Gibson Spills on Ruby’s Future After Doctor Who’s Latest Episode

In this recently released episode, we delve into the current state of Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson), a past companion of the Doctor. After parting ways with the Doctor, she embarked on a new career at UNIT and even found a partner. However, things took a turn for the worse.

In the episode titled “Lucky Day,” Ruby developed feelings for Conrad, a podcaster who was skeptical about UNIT’s operations. Mimicking conspiracy theories surrounding COVID-19 denialism, Conrad claimed that everything related to UNIT was a sham. He went as far as hacking and terrorizing the organization, culminating in an encounter with a monster that landed him behind bars.

By the end of the episode, Ruby was grappling with a multitude of painful feelings. Later on, Gibson discussed Ruby’s next steps following the betrayal. “If I were her, I’d break down and cry looking in the mirror,” said Gibson. “But she’s tougher than me!” he added. However, at the close, Ruby tells Kate, “I believe I need some time alone to sort things out.” This solitude is what she requires. I imagine it might be a form of Gallifreyan therapy or perhaps even a connection provided by Kate for therapy sessions with all her past companions.

Speaking with Nerdist, Gibson hinted that Ruby may reappear in episodes 7 and 8, entitled “Wish World” and “The Reality War”, which are set to be the season finale in a two-part series. He also suggested that Ruby is not yet fully broken, leaving room for more.

It’s undecided at the moment if Ncuti Gawta’s Doctor will have a Season 3, but actress Gemma Arthenow (who plays Ruby) has shared her ideas for Ruby’s future. “I envision her continuing with her band,” she said. “I don’t think she’ll get involved with men anytime soon… I personally wouldn’t.” She also mentioned that Ruby might occasionally hang out with Belinda, and added, “I believe she just needs a straightforward life. She has her two mothers, she has her friends, even though they think she’s crazy. We should ask Russell [T Davies], but I hope it ends happily, not sadly because she’s had many sad endings before.

Gibson Was Thrilled To Work With Jonah Hauer-King

Leading up to the release of “Lucky Day”, she’ll discuss his portrayal of a character pretending to be a good person despite being deceitful. “It was my initial collaboration with him,” Gibson stated, “but I hope it won’t be the last, as he’s an exceptionally talented actor.

She continued, “I recall finding it mysterious who was portraying Conrad in the script. So, I started messaging Russell, saying, ‘C’mon, spill the beans!’ He replied, ‘Apparently no one has told you yet? It’s Jonah Hauer-King.’ And I was certainly excited about that!

He’s incredibly talented and he’s an actor who gives generously, and on set, he possesses a serene, beautiful demeanor that I truly needed. Of course, he is nothing like Conrad.

We’ll have to wait and see if Conrad, who was recently freed from jail by an unknown party, will make an appearance in the final episode of the season.
