Netflix’s Post-Apocalyptic Hit Gets Instant Season 2 Renewal After Stunning 92% Rating!

I’m thrilled to share that Netflix swiftly renewed the season for its gripping post-apocalyptic series, barely a few days after the launch of the first season. As a supporter, I can attest that Netflix has been a hub for some remarkable post-apocalyptic TV shows in recent times, delving into a myriad of worlds that have met their end through an array of catastrophic events. While some of these stories revolve around familiar concepts like the zombie apocalypse as seen in “Black Summer” or the viral pandemic in “Sweet Tooth”, they also underscore the rich diversity found within the post-apocalyptic genre on this streaming platform.

Not only does Netflix excel in post-apocalyptic shows, but it also boasts a rich collection of captivating sci-fi series that explore intriguing concepts throughout their narratives. The enduring appeal of these genres is evident in the continued production of popular titles such as Stranger Things (season 5) and 3 Body Problem (seasons 2 and 3), which have already been confirmed by Netflix. Interestingly, the sci-fi genre, with its apocalyptic undertones, is what sets the stage for Netflix’s latest post-apocalyptic show, which has just been greenlit for a second season.

The Eternaut Has Been Renewed For Season 2

The Argentinian Series Received A Quick Continuation

Netflix announced that they’ve renewed “The Eternaut” for a second season, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come in the continuation of this gripping post-apocalyptic series. Originating from Héctor Germán Oesterheld’s 1950s comic book of the same name, the story unfolds around a group of friends in Buenos Aires, Argentina, who must find ways to survive when snow starts falling that kills anyone it touches. The show has received rave reviews, garnering a 92% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans can catch up with the full six-episode season 1, which was released on Netflix on April 30, 2025.

Now, it’s official that “The Eternaut” has been given a green light for another season, only two days following the release of season 1 on Netflix. Francisco ‘Paco’ Ramos, Vice President of Latin American Content at the streaming service, shared his excitement for season 2, while producer Matías Mosteirin revealed that the upcoming episodes will conclude the series. Moreover, Mosteirin also announced plans for season 2 to consist of eight episodes and already have a pre-planned ending for the show. You can read what Ramos and Mosteirin had to say below:

Francisco ‘Paco’ Ramos: Season 2 promises to be crucial as it will delve deeper into the science fiction ideas hinted at in Season 1, fully exploring them.

Matías Mosteirin: We’re confident that we can wrap up our story elegantly with around eight additional episodes left in this season. However, we don’t anticipate extending beyond a second season. Artistically, we feel this is the right length to maintain the intrigue and excitement of producing the show. We aim to push ourselves in the second season as much as we did in the first, striving for greater technical and creative achievements. We plan to utilize all the insights we’ve gathered to accomplish feats in the second season that we couldn’t manage in the first.

What The Eternaut’s Early Season 2 Renewal Says About The Show

It Has A Definitive Plan For Where It Wants To Go

The swift return of the streamer’s newest post-apocalyptic series signifies the conclusion of Season 1 of “The Eternaut,” which effectively reimagined and updated a substantial portion of Oesterheld’s original comic book. Mosteirin’s comment that there are eight episodes left to conclude the story suggests that Netflix is allowing the entire narrative of the show to unfold, partly due to its pre-planning. Now that it’s been confirmed the series will continue, we might not have to wait much longer for updates on where the storyline is headed next.

The Eternaut season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
