Valve’s Deadlock Has A Super-Secret Invite-Only Alpha Different From The Known Invite-Only Alpha

The game known as Deadlock, which Valve initially denied despite months of leaked videos, and later confirmed last summer, is gradually expanding its closed alpha testing group. However, it appears there might be a secretive alpha test ongoing as well, with an even smaller number of invitations, following an unintentional reveal by a streamer.

YouTube live-streamer Deathy was broadcasting a session of Deadlock on his channel, but it appears he accidentally launched an unintended version of the game. Instead of the usual alpha test with its 30 playable characters, the game unexpectedly introduced a larger roster of 40 characters for players to choose from. Furthermore, some of the original 30 heroes had been redesigned in this version.

In a departure from typical alpha testing, some unique characters were introduced, such as Doorman, who resembles a bellhop, Frank, a homage to Mary Shelley’s famous monster, and Punkgoat, whose design is reminiscent of an existing character named Shiv. Despite Deathy terminating the stream and erasing the archive upon realizing his mistake, screenshots of these characters made their way onto the official Deadlock subreddit.

The Deadlock game, created by Valve, is a 6v6 multiplayer shooter and a strategy game known as MOBA or “multiplayer online battle arena.” As per the official Steam page, the game is still in its early development stages, featuring temporary artwork and experimental gameplay. At present, access to the game is restricted, only available through invites from playtesters to friends.
