This summer, Mattel is introducing a fresh building set brand named Brick Shop. Kicking off with one of their renowned franchises, Hot Wheels, these sets are similar to brands like Lego and Mega Bloks (which is also owned by Mattel). The unique aspect of the Hot Wheels Brick Shop building sets lies in their construction using a mix of various brick types and sizes. Unlike Mega Bloks’ Hot Wheels sets that cater more towards children with a playful vibe, the Brick Shop kits are specifically designed for car enthusiasts and collectors seeking authentic replicas of famous vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, Corvette Grand Sport, and Maserati MC20.
As an enthusiastic fan, I’m thrilled to share that starting from August 1st, Mattel’s Brick Shop will unveil an incredible collection of seven Hot Wheels building sets! These sets are now available for preorder at major retailers nationwide. Each set includes a 1:64 diecast metal car that perfectly matches the theme – how cool is that? Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to expand your Hot Wheels collection in a whole new way!
Hot Wheels Brick Shop sets will be available in three distinct series, with each subsequent series offering a more luxurious and customizable experience. The Speed Series ($20) serves as the starting point, consisting of builds containing approximately 250-300 pieces per set. These cost-effective kits enable you to craft personalized replicas of each vehicle, although they may not feature many high-end details. The Elite Series ($50) stands out for its authenticity and customization capabilities due to the incorporation of metal components and a substantial number of pieces (over 850 bricks per set). Mattel asserts that these sets have been designed with utmost attention to detail to accurately recreate the unique characteristics of each vehicle.
The “Premium Series” ($120) stands as our most lavish and costly line. Currently, there’s only one model offered within this series, namely the 1,600-piece Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. However, future models in this category are expected to showcase exquisite details that would make them worthy of display.
If you’re keen on being an early owner, I recommend checking out the seven items available right now that are ripe for adding to your collection.
