For the first time since the 2016 controversy over her alleged abduction and disappearance, Sherri Papini has broken her silence. On May 26th and 27th, ID will broadcast “Sherri Papini: Unmasking the Deception,” a documentary series that delves back into her case and offers her viewpoint.

In the beginning of the documentary trailer, she confesses, ‘Haven’t you ever told a lie, and then had it unravel?’ I myself disappeared in 2016 for 22 harrowing days. I was subjected to torture, branding, and confinement on a wall – all of these experiences were genuine. However, there were certain truths that I held back from you.

In the trailer, various individuals express their thoughts in voiceovers or interviews about Papini’s statements. One of them asserts, “Sherri doesn’t have the capacity to do what she’s accused of.” Another person questions the financial motives, stating, “There’s no reason for gain here.” A third individual shares their perspective, saying, “I discovered that everything the media has been telling us is false.

In “Sherri Papini: Caught in the Lie,” this project delves into the events surrounding Papini’s case, from the days preceding her disappearance to her alleged abduction, her surprising return home, and the events that followed, culminating in her 2022 arrest by federal authorities. For the first time, Papini will share her perspective on these events, providing unique insights into her state of mind during her disappearance and the investigation following her return. The documentary “Sherri Papini: Caught in the Lie” will also explore the aftermath of her 2022 guilty plea, including her ongoing custody battle with her ex-husband, Keith Papini, as she strives for joint custody of their children.

In addition to Papini, individuals featured in the “Caught in the Lie” interview also include her parents, her brother’s wife, the officials who handled her case from the federal authorities, her previous legal representative, her mental health specialist, a podcaster who covered her story, and others.

The docuseries was created collaboratively by Pantheon Media Group and Lady Moon Entertainment, specifically for the Investigation Discovery channel.
