The movie “Splitsville” from Neon, featuring Dakota Johnson, Adria Arjona, and Kyle Marvin, will be released in theaters on August 22nd, following its premiere in the Premiere section of the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month.
Directed by Michael Angelo Covino, who also appears in the film, the official synopsis goes like this: “When Ashley (Arjona) requests a divorce, easy-going Carey (Marvin) seeks solace with friends Julie (Johnson) and Paul (Covino). Their contentment stems from their open marriage; however, when Carey oversteps boundaries, the harmony of their relationships starts to unravel.
Additional actors featured are Nicholas Braun, David Castañeda, Charlie Gillespie, Simon Webster, Stephen Adekolu, and Tyrone Benskin. The script was written by Marvin and Covino.

Previously, Marvin and Covino worked together on the 2019 film “The Climb,” a movie about two friends who embark on a biking adventure, only to have their friendship strained by infidelity. Interestingly, in 2023, Covino took on the role of executive producer for the movie “80 For Brady,” which Marvin directed.
Johnson’s latest screen appearance was in the Sony film “Madame Web,” which gained significant cultural impact, surprising many given its lackluster box office and critical performance. In the near future, you can see her starring alongside Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal in Celine Song’s romantic comedy titled “Materialists.
Arjona’s latest works can be found in the Disney+ show “Andor,” the horror-thriller film “Blink Twice” starring Zoe Kravitz, and Richard Linklater’s production titled “Hit Man.
