Mixed reactions greet No Rest For The Wicked’s latest update. The Breach is not what fans were expecting

The latest upgrade for No Rest For The Wicked, The Breach, didn’t quite meet expectations. Many players came back to check out the new features, but they were not overly pleased with the modifications made. Recent feedback suggests a wide range of opinions about the update.

Pretty game, but the combat’s still clunky as ever

As an ardent gamer, I vividly recall the exhilaration surrounding the debut of “No Rest For The Wicked” in Early Access more than a year ago. With over 36,000 simultaneous players on Steam at launch, it was off to a roaring start. However, within a month, the numbers took a significant nosedive, leaving many of us eager fans somewhat disappointed.

The game’s striking visuals were undeniably captivating, but unfortunately, the combat felt sluggish, which seemed to hamper the overall experience. The consensus among most reviews was that it was a game with immense potential, yet in dire need of some quality-of-life enhancements to truly shine.

Following the release, Moon Studios pledged their dedication towards offering a top-quality product. Continuously releasing fixes and enhancements, they even invited modders to join forces, aiming to make improvements. However, all these efforts fell short of reclaiming popularity or rekindling the initial momentum.

Yesterday’s update, titled “The Breach,” has seen a resurgence of players in “No Rest For The Wicked“. This update introduced novel narrative elements, adversaries, a Hardcore Mode, fresh weaponry, and numerous gameplay adjustments based on player feedback, including modifications to the combat system. However, it appears that these improvements have failed to win over many players. Critical reviews are once again increasing in number. Here’s what they’re expressing:

The battle structure isn’t properly balanced. In Souls games, attacks should maintain a sense of fairness, but they occasionally lack this quality, becoming frustratingly unfair. Certain enemies can string together combos that deplete your stamina so quickly, leaving you vulnerable to further attacks.

This version attempts to convey the same idea while using natural and easy-to-understand language, maintaining a friendly tone and providing a bit more context about the Souls series.

– Full Panic

Combines aspects of Souls-like games and Action Role-Playing Games (ARPG), yet the overall experience appears disjointed. Managing inventory is laborious, battles feel unrefined, and frames per second (FPS) can dip dramatically to as low as 40 during intense combat or when defeating an enemy.

– Aoraijin

People draw inspiration from FromSoftware, yet they fail to grasp the elements that make the challenging combat in their games enjoyable. The difficulty in FromSoftware games is tough, but it’s balanced and fair.

– Alacod

Some individuals are mentioning that using a mouse and keyboard in this game can still be uncomfortable, essentially making a controller essential – not ideal for many PC gamers. To make matters worse, the food mechanics and fast travel issues remain unresolved, resulting in a game experience that is more aggravating than engaging or enjoyable. In essence, this update fell short of expectations, suggesting that the developers have a significant amount of work to do if they want No Rest For The Wicked to reach its full potential.
