Warning: Information about Season 13, Episode 12 of “The Masked Singer,” titled “Semi-Finals Night,” which was broadcasted on Fox on April 30, follows.
Detective Lucky Duck’s identity was unmasked during Wednesday’s episode of “The Masked Singer” on Fox. The New Zealand director, Taika Waititi, was the latest star to be unveiled in Season 13 of the show, portraying the enigmatic character who had been hinting at the competitors’ identities throughout the series.
Towards the end of this week’s semi-final episode, Lucky Duck made an appearance and chose not to keep the show’s judges guessing his identity; instead, he revealed it himself. Interestingly, one of the judges recognized him immediately – Taika Waititi is married to Rita Ora from the same show.
On the night of the Semi-Finals, the remaining five competitors – Coral from Group A, Pearl and Boogie Woogie from Group B, and Mad Scientist Monster from Group C – gathered for the showdown. The episode began with all groups performing “Handclap,” a song by Fitz and the Tantrums.
This week, the four contenders reached the semifinals stage, and they were paired off for direct competition. The victors from these encounters would secure a spot in the finals directly.
Initially, Boogie Woogie and Pearl squared off, with Pearl taking the victory and proceeding to the finals. Meanwhile, Mad Scientist Monster contended against Coral, winning that round as well and advancing. Consequently, Boogie Woogie and Coral were left to compete in a final showdown for the third spot in the finals. Coral began by performing “Suddenly I See,” composed by KT Tunstall, followed by Boogie Woogie singing “Are You Gonna Be My Girl,” a tune by Jet.
Prior to casting the final vote, Lucky Duck rang the “Ding Dong Keep It On” bell, indicating that all four competitors would advance to the following week’s finals. However, instead of revealing one of the contestants, he unveiled his own identity.
In “The Masked Singer” Season 13, Taika Waititi was revealed to be Lucky Duck, Edwin McCain was Nessy, Matthew Lawrence played Paparazzo, Erika Jayne was Yorkie, Method Man took on the role of Stud Muffin, Candace Cameron Bure was Cherry Blossom, James Van Der Beek became Griffin, Flavor Flav transformed into Space Ranger, Sheana Shay was Bat, Aubrey O’Day was Ant, Oscar de la Hoya was Fuzzy Peas, and Cedric the Entertainer emerged as Honey Pot.
For Season 13, returning hosts include Nick Cannon, joined by regular panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, Rita Ora (substituting for her third consecutive season for Nicole Scherzinger), and Robin Thicke.

Here were the performances on Wednesday’s Episode 12, “Semi-Finals Night”:
Boogie Woogie
Song: “Maps,” by Maroon 5
Panel guesses: Ed Sheeran, Kevin Jonas, Justin Guarini
Connection between Boogie Woogie and You: “Hey Ken! Seems like you’re quite fond of me, given that you’re among my numerous fans. Once this is all settled, I’ll definitely return the favor by following you.
“Hey Pearl, no need to worry! You’ve really managed to stir me up. Normally, I’m a carefree individual, but as we delve deeper, I find myself growing more serious. I’m unearthing feelings that have lain dormant for far too long. Tonight, I plan to perform an energetic, fast-paced song to unleash the spirit of Boogie Woogie. That’s what this situation calls for.
Previously released tracks by Boogie Woogie include “I Believe In a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness, “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons, “Something in the Water” by Carrie Underwood, and “Golden Hour” by Jvke.
Guesses from the Previous Panel of Boogie Woogie: Adam Lambert, Andy Samberg, Mika, Criss Angel, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Mraz, George Clooney, Tedder (short for Ryan Tedder), Gavin DeGraw, Josh Groban, Daniel Powter, Charlie Puth, Brandon Flowers (Brandon Flowers was a guess in the previous panel of Boogie Woogie)

Pearl
Song: “You Don’t Own Me,” by Lesley Gore
Panel guesses: Kacey Musgraves, Martina McBride, Ann Wilson, Natalie Maines
The way Pearl relates to the panel: “Jenny, not just that we shared a common path, but you were there when I received one of my most significant awards at the American Music Awards.
Pearl voiceover: Pearl: “Are you looking for a showdown? I’ve got plenty of experience in battling for my survival. I’ve proven that I can handle any genre, and I’ve left the panel guessing. One thing about me is that I’m not afraid to blaze a trail. When I first entered the scene, there weren’t many women doing what I was doing, so I thought, ‘Why not?’ So, I started my own movement and opened doors for others. Tonight, it’s about sending Boogie Woogie packing. And trust me, it won’t be a walk in the park. But I can stand up for myself, so goodbye Boogie Woogie!
Previously Played Songs:
1. “Saving All My Love for You” – Whitney Houston
2. “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” – Blue Oyster Cult
3. “Here You Come Again” – Dolly Parton
4. “Conga” – Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine
5. “Your Love” – The Outfield
My Previous Thoughts: I’ve been pondering about who it could be, and here are some names that popped up in my mind: Regina King, Shania Twain, Joan Jett, Madonna, Melissa Etheridge, Sheryl Crow, Trisha Yearwood, Kellie Pickler, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Jody Watley, Lisa Lisa, Pat Benatar, Bonnie Tyler, Wynonna Judd, and Brandi Carlile. These are all amazing women who have left a significant mark in the world of entertainment, but I’m still unsure if any of them are the one I’m thinking about.

Coral
Song: “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish
Panel guesses: Meg Donnelly, Kylee Russell, Sofia Carson, Peyton List, Hailee Steinfeld
The connection between Coral and the panel: “Rita, our franchises will harmonize wonderfully, creating a delightful symphony by the end of this year.
Coral’s Narration: “I’m absolutely thrilled for the upcoming battle! I’m the youngest contestant remaining, and in fact, one of the youngest to reach this stage. With that being said, it’s time to show them who’s boss against this seasoned scientist. Hollywood might be a new sea for me, but being here confirms my place is right where I belong. Pursuing my dreams as a pop star, and I aim to continue on this path. Tonight, my plan is to pull out all the stops with an emotionally charged song. If I’m going to outshine this musical scientist, I’ll need every ounce of emotion in my performance.
Previously played songs: “Mad World” by Tears for Fears, “Accidentally in Love” by Counting Crows, “Luck Be a Lady” by Frank Sinatra, “Ain’t It Fun” by Paramore, and “Sk8er Boi” by Avril Lavigne.
Past predictions: Bebe Rexha, Carly Rae Jepsen, Sabrina Carpenter, Halsey, Anna Kendrick, Dove Cameron, Hailee Steinfeld, Lili Reinhart, Victoria Justice, Rachel Zegler, Camila Mendes, Selena Gomez, Brittany Snow, Hilary Duff, Ashley Tisdale, and Nina Dobrev.

Mad Scientist Monster
Song: “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” by Shaboozey
Panel guesses: Trace Adkins, Billy Ray Cyrus, Sam Hunt
Connection of Mad Scientist Monster to the Panel: “Robin, recall the hint from Lucky Duck suggesting someone swiped something from you? That was actually me way back in 2013.
Mad Scientist (in a less dramatic tone): “Contrary to what you might think, I’m not ancient! With time comes wisdom, and I’ve been preparing for this moment my entire life. As an athlete turned singer, I bring the same dedication and discipline to every performance. It’s not just about showing up; it’s about training hard. I’m running, lifting weights, even carbohydrate-loading. I’m ready to tackle that tiny tadpole. The odds of me losing are slim. I have nothing but respect for you, Coral, but just like the Great Barrier Reef, you’re in a precarious situation.
In the realm of tunes that resonate deeply with me, I’ve found solace in “Unwell” by Matchbox Twenty, “I Swear” by All-4-One, “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber, “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” by Shawn Mendes, and the hauntingly beautiful “The Scientist” by Coldplay. Each of these songs has a special place in my heart for their unique emotional depth.
As a die-hard fan of country music, I’ve been pondering over who this mighty musician could be. So far, names like Luke Combs, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Billy Ray Cyrus, Kenny Chesney, Trace Adkins, Gary LeVox from Rascal Flatts, Kane Brown, and Jelly Roll have crossed my mind. Could it be any of these country crooners? Or perhaps someone else I’ve yet to consider? The anticipation is killing me!
In Season 12 of “The Masked Singer,” Boyz II Men (representing Buffalo) claimed the title, edging out Mario disguised as Wasp who was this season’s second place contestant. They joined AJ Michalka portraying Strawberry Shortcake, Kobie Turner as Goo, Jana Kramer in her role as Royal Knight, Bronson Arroyo appearing as Sherlock Hound, Drake Bell masked as Ice King, Natalie Imbruglia in the role of Bluebell, Laverne Cox as Chess Piece, Andy Richter donning the Dusty Bunny costume, Paula Cole disguised as Ship, Marsai Martin under the Woodpecker disguise, Yvette Nicole Brown hidden behind the Showbird mask, and John Elway concealed as Leaf Sheep among the celebrities who were unveiled on “The Masked Singer” Season 12.
