Streamer Emily, known as ExtraEmily on Twitch, received an unexpected visit from the Austin police following a call to the station where someone made violent threats against her while she was streaming in real life (IRL).
Emily, a well-known streamer on Twitch, has amassed more than 468,000 fans who regularly watch her for her cheerful demeanor and funny partnerships with other influential figures.
She frequently participates in live, real-life broadcasts (IRL streams) that showcase her experiences from traveling and various daily activities. For instance, she provides Michelin-starred restaurant reviews on Mondays or visits shooting ranges, which she shares with her audience.
On Tuesday, the 29th of April, Emily launched her personal hot dog food truck in Austin, Texas. She offered complimentary meals to people passing by as a welcoming gesture.

Yet, after approximately two and a half hours into her live stream, she encountered two law enforcement officials. They told her that there were threats against her life, advising her to relocate her hot dog stand for safety reasons.
One officer put it straightforwardly: “There’s no issue at the moment, but let me be clear – a call was made mentioning a threat against you.
After turning off her camera momentarily to provide additional details, Emily went back to her live broadcast and excitedly informed her audience that she’d need to locate a different area for her spontaneous hot dog distribution.
She commented that they were extremely kind! Yet, she might be relocating soon. Everything’s fine. They were merely checking on her welfare,” she explained, implying there would be no penalty or fee involved.
Despite Emily handling the threat calmly, much like water rolling off a duck’s back, social media users expressed shock over the incident, stating that they would have ended their live stream instantly and left straight away.
On that particular day, what happened to Emily wasn’t the most extraordinary event, but it certainly wasn’t ordinary. As the day wore on, she shared with her online audience an unusual incident: a mysterious note had been left in her Tesla by an individual identifying themselves as ‘Sam.’
Yet, it was discovered that another neighbor received a similar note, but their security camera revealed that instead of a man, it was actually two women who left the note on their Tesla car.
The neighbor suspected that some women might be casing or stalking Tesla owners with the intention of stealing their vehicles, which made Emily feel extremely uneasy as if she herself could be a target for potential car thieves.

Emily has experienced another unsettling event in the past couple of months. In March, while reviewing a restaurant with her streaming partner Emiru, they were confronted by a stalker who snapped their picture, causing Emiru to urge viewers to keep a safe distance.
Recently, there have been several alarming instances of harassment towards female broadcasters. For instance, Emiru, Valkyrae, and Cinna were targeted by a male viewer who made threats against their lives during a live stream in early March. This is merely one example among many such incidents.
