On May 21st, the full version of the Game of Thrones: Kingsroad game will be released, available for free play on both PC and mobile devices, according to the game’s developers at Netmarble.
Even though its official launch is still a few weeks off, some PC gamers have been playing it for over a month now. The game ‘Game of Thrones: Kingsroad’, currently, can be played in early access on Steam if you buy the $25 Founder’s Pack. This pack grants access to the game, plus extra cosmetics and in-game currency. There are also more expensive Founder’s Packs available, which offer additional currencies and cosmetics as well.
In this role-playing game (RPG) based on the Game of Thrones TV series by HBO, you’ll see familiar faces like Kit Harrington, and it offers cross-platform compatibility between mobile and PC devices. You’ll play as an heir of a minor Northern house, where you’ll pick your class – Sellsword, Knight, or Assassin – and journey to reclaim your house’s honor in real-time combat involving evasive maneuvers like dodging and parrying enemy attacks.
Players now have an opportunity to delve into the northern territories of Westeros, including the Wall and Castle Black, during the game’s early access phase. They can engage with a slice of the main storyline, embark on side missions, and join cooperative adventures to battle extraordinary creatures that were only alluded to or mentioned in the Game of Thrones lore but have yet to appear on screen.
Reviews for the Steam version of Game of Thrones: Kingsroad are generally mixed, as some players appreciate the quality of its visuals and narrative, while others express dissatisfaction with its monetization strategies.
Although George R.R. Martin’s fantasy world from Game of Thrones has gained immense popularity, there have been relatively few interactive adaptations beyond a number of mobile strategy games. Coming up next in Westeros is the third-person action RPG, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, making it only the second of its kind, with Cyanide Studios’ 2012 Game of Thrones being the first.
It’s possible that we may see additional Game of Thrones video games in the future. Recently, Warner Bros. Games stated their intention to concentrate on well-known intellectual properties (IP) for their game development, and Game of Thrones is one such IP they have mentioned.
