Jenna Ortega Plans to Direct a Movie She’s Been Writing for 10 Years: ‘I See That For Myself’

Jenna Ortega is taking her talents to the director’s chair.

During an interview with V Magazine, the actress behind “Wednesday” revealed she’s been developing a script for close to a decade. She believes now is the perfect moment to turn her vision into reality. Not only does she plan to act and produce this movie, but she aspires to take on the director’s chair as well.

Ortega mentioned that he’s had an idea for a script that he’s been planning for nearly a decade. It’s strange because it’s something he conceived when he was younger and just starting out in this profession, but it’s only now, after all these years, that he’s finally taking action to bring it to life. He finds it fascinating. Currently, he’s just figuring out the pieces of the puzzle in his mind. So, he believes he needed those years of experience to grasp the sequence of events.

She added, “I strongly identify with this one, yet I yearn to be a director above all else. That’s primarily what I aspire to accomplish. It resonates deeply with me. I believe that’s the way my mind operates and processes information, and it’s how I sometimes perceive my acting roles as well.

As a newcomer to directing, I recently ventured into the role of executive producer for the A24 horror comedy “Death of a Unicorn,” where I also acted. In the near future, you’ll find me taking on both roles again as an executive producer and star in Trey Edward Shults’ “Hurry Up Tomorrow” and the upcoming season of “Wednesday.

Ortega mentioned her preference for taking a less visible role in upcoming ventures, choosing instead to work exclusively backstage.

She shared, “In the long run, I prefer not to be involved in my future creations. However, since having a reputation as an actor has given me more opportunities, I might initially utilize it as a means of advancement.
