After the successful debut of her Netflix original movie titled “Trigger Warning“, actress Jessica Alba will re-enter the action scene by starring as the main character in an upcoming spy thriller named “The Mark“.
In this new action spy thriller titled “The Mark,” directed by Justin Chadwick (known for “The Other Boleyn Girl” and “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom”), Alba will take the lead role. The script is penned by Ronnie Christensen, and the story revolves around Eden, an enigmatic spy who embarks on a perilous undercover mission. When Ben Dawson, a single father, gets entangled in Eden’s world of high-stakes espionage, his life experiences a dramatic shift. As of now, no other actors are confirmed for the project, but filming is scheduled to commence in July, with an undetermined release date for “The Mark.
In 2024, after a five-year hiatus from the big screen, Alba stepped back into the spotlight with the Netflix original action movie “Trigger Warning.” This film garnered significant success on the streaming platform in the weeks following its release. Throughout her illustrious career, Alba has graced numerous high-profile movies, including appearances in “Sin City” and “Machete.” However, she is most famously recognized for her role as Sue Storm in the 2005 film “Fantastic Four.” Additionally, Alba will soon share the screen with Anthony Hopkins and Andy Garcia in “Maserati: The Brothers,” a biopic detailing the history of the Italian car manufacturer.
Jessica Alba’s Trigger Warning Was a Streaming Success
Most recently, Alba appeared in the Netflix Original action movie “Trigger Warning,” directed by Mouly Surya, which was released in 2024. Although the film received negative reviews from critics, it turned out to be a streaming sensation on Netflix. As reported by Deadline, “Trigger Warning” debuted at the top of Netflix’s ten most-watched titles upon its release on June 21 and has since accumulated 91 million views. However, the film received dismal ratings of only 20% from critics and an even lower 16% from audiences.
Besides Alba, Trigger Warning boasts a star-studded cast including Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands, Tone Bell from The United States vs. Billie Holiday, Mark Webber known for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Jake Weary of It Chapter Two, Gabriel Basso of Juror #2, Kaiwi Lyman from Den of Thieves, Hari Dhillon in Bad Education, Alejandro De Hoyos in The Man from Toronto, and Nadiv Molcho in The Gray Man. Halley Wegryn, Josh Olson, and John Brancato crafted the film’s script. Trigger Warning is now streaming on Netflix.
There is no official release date for The Mark.
