As a devoted supporter, I’m sharing the news about an educator in Ohio who finds herself in a challenging situation. She’s currently dealing with criminal trespassing accusations, stemming from an incident where she is said to have followed a student home to discuss a misplaced homework task.
In March 2025, it’s said that William Hilt, an educator at Hull Prairie Intermediate School in Perrysburg, Ohio, apparently trailed a school bus carrying a female student until he reached her residence.
During a disagreement between Hilt and one of the students, one of her parents arrived home from work and inquired about the purpose of his visit. He explained that he had come to verify if the student had finished her homework.
As stated by Hilt, he had promised their class a pizza party upon completion of everyone’s homework, ensuring that he himself had completed his tasks to make the gathering possible.
Ohio teacher charged for following student home over homework
The following day, an email from the students’ parents was sent to the school expressing that they had not been informed about Mr. Hilt’s visit to their house, which they found both bizarre and troubling.
According to Action 13 News updates, the school temporarily suspended Hilt’s duties prior to the following school day, and he is still on suspension as we speak.
On April 1, 2025, the teacher stood before a judge for criminal trespassing allegations, asserting ‘not guilty.’ Currently, he remains on temporary leave as the district court carries out their investigation.
Regarding the welfare of our pupils, it’s of utmost importance, and we are working closely with the relevant law enforcement agencies,” stated Perrysburg Schools. “Our goal is to ensure that every student experiences a secure, considerate, and encouraging learning atmosphere.
Employees should maintain appropriate professional distance and use good judgement, following both legal, professional, and moral guidelines in their roles. If an employee’s behavior doesn’t match these expectations, the school district will respond accordingly.
