The enduring friendship between actors Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie continues to be a source of delight. After it was announced they’d both be featured in a new project, Stan shared that Mackie had shown curiosity upon sending him texts after the recent casting announcement live stream.
During a chat at a press event for the upcoming blockbuster *Thunderbolts*, I (Stan) spilled the beans about the text messages I received from Anthony Mackie once we both learned we’d be starring in *Doomsday*. Apparently, even before the cameras rolled on production for *Doomsday*, Mackie was already curious about where he’d be laying his head during those busy filming days.

The continuation of this series on the big screen, titled “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: The Series Continues“, marked Mackie’s debut as the Sentinel of Liberty, with Stan’s character Bucky Barnes appearing as a U.S. Congress member in a cameo role.
As a die-hard film fan, I’m thrilled about the cameo of Stan’s “Brave New World” that paved the way for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) Phase Five finale, “Thunderbolts”. In this exciting new venture, Bucky steps up as the unofficial leader of an antihero team. This motley crew consists of Yelena Belova, portrayed by the brilliant Florence Pugh, Red Guardian, played by David Harbour, U.S. Agent, Wyatt Russell’s character, Ghost, Hannah John-Kamen’s role, and Taskmaster, Olga Kurylenko’s character. The group is initially reluctant to work together, but they bandy forces to accomplish a perilous mission aimed at earning redemption for their past misdeeds. Stan has hinted that this team-up will be nothing short of spectacular!
In the storyline of “Thunderbolts,” a group of reformed villains set out on a mission to defeat Robert Downey Jr.’s character, Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom. The comic book “Doomsday” presents this conflict, and it involves not just the Thunderbolts, but also the X-Men, the people of Wakanda, and The Fantastic Four. Captain America is anticipated to guide the revamped Avengers against Doctor Doom in this epic battle.
Avengers: Doomsday Has Started Production
The movie titled “Secret Wars,” directed by the Russo brothers, started being produced in the United Kingdom towards the end of March last year.
On May 2, Thunderbolts will be playing in theaters all across North America. In contrast, the movie Doomsday won’t make its premiere until May 1, 2026.
This version maintains the original meaning and sequence while using more natural language and a clearer structure to connect the two events.
