Or even more concisely:
Brolin teams up with Julia Garner and Alden Ehrenreich for director Gregger’s second film, alongside other talents like Benedict Wong, Austin Abrams, Amy Madigan, Cary Christopher, and June Diane Raphael. The story focuses on the disappearance of a group of schoolchildren in a small Florida town at night.
Roy Lee and Miri Yun create the movie under Vertigo’s production, in collaboration with Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz from BoulderLight Pictures. The theatrical distribution of the film is managed by New Line.
In 2022, I was thrilled to see my horror film “Barbarian” on Airbnb, shockingly taking the number one spot at the box office during its debut weekend. As a former member of the comedy group Whitest Kids U’Know, I might have given you the impression that the genre shift wasn’t as dramatic as it appears, but the journey has been quite transformative for me.
In 2022, Cregger expressed that he sees horror and comedy as not being too different. He believes that both rely heavily on timing, tone, and unexpected twists (or zigging when the audience expects zagging). His experience in sketch comedy has prepared him to navigate this genre effectively.
Cregger received some advice from his friend, Jordan Peele, who is also known for directing “Get Out”. He shared with Cregger a brief but impactful lesson on managing the upcoming difficulties, which proved to be incredibly beneficial.
“Weapons” hits theaters Aug. 8. Watch the trailer below.
