As a movie aficionado, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve got my hands on the global distribution rights for the electrifying action-comedy “My Wife is a Spy,” starring none other than Marie Gillain, known for her captivating performance in “Under the Influence.” This exhilarating film made its grand debut at Canneseries. I can’t wait to bring this high-concept gem to screens near you!
Under the direction of Leo Karmann, who has previously worked on “Simon’s Got a Gift,” the series is being produced by Barbara Maubert for Kabo, a subsidiary of Asacha Media Group. The show will air during primetime on M6, France’s second largest commercial television network.
Gillian in ‘My Wife is a Secret Agent'”: The story follows Isabelle, portrayed by Gillian, a suburban wife and mother of two, who unexpectedly recovers abilities from her past as a top-tier secret agent after a fall. As pieces of her memory from this period of her life mysteriously vanish, she embarks on a journey to uncover the truth about her forgotten past while balancing her family responsibilities. Joining her in this thrilling tale are Arnaud Ducret (“Liar,” “A Perfect Man”), Nicolas Gob (“The Art of Crime”), Claire Chust (“Miss”) and Marc Riso (“A Little Something Extra”).
The show “My Wife is a Spy” is created by Barbara Maubert, whose previous works include Netflix’s shows “Killer Coaster” and “Derby Girl.” According to Maubert, this series is a liberating one that illuminates an ordinary heroine who bravely confronts the extraordinary.
Maubert stated that this show is essentially a tribute to mothers and their untapped abilities. He further clarified that it’s primarily an adventure-comedy filled with vibrant personalities.
Ramy Nahas, SND’s global sales leader, characterized “My Wife is a Spy” as an entertaining, popcorn-worthy comedy filled with vibrant action sequences and exciting fights, reminiscent of the humorous style of animator Tex Avery or action hero Jackie Chan.
According to Nahas, Leo Karmann possesses an exceptional knack for filmmaking and narrative development. He further stated that the stories he crafts are both rooted in authenticity yet become extravagant when they delve into the realm of espionage.
Regarding Maubert, Nahas remarked that they have a knack for crafting compelling tales featuring robust female characters who triumph against adversity in unconventional and peculiar circumstances.
As a follower of SND’s latest updates, I’m excited to be part of the group that will experience the world premiere of “The Girls We Want” at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, a significant event on their current sales slate.
