As a devoted admirer, I’m sharing the news that a popular YouTuber, previously serving in South Korea’s special forces, has been penalized following his upload of a video where he knocked out Johnny Somali.
2024 saw streamer Johnny Somali, whose real name is Ramsey Khalid Ismael, stirring up quite a commotion in South Korea. This American individual instigated various incidents, including dancing inappropriately near the Statue of Peace, creating a disturbance at a 7-Eleven, causing delays in public transportation, and performing other attention-grabbing acts.
As a gamer, I found myself constantly butting heads with this guy named Somali. Locals were getting tired of his shenanigans, so they started to take action themselves. They’d sneak up on me during online gaming sessions (stream sniping) and even confronted him directly on the streets.
In October, YouTube user Dalgeun Yu, who was once part of the Underwater Demolition Team/SEAL team, decided to discipline Johnny Somali. Regrettably, Dalgeun himself has faced consequences for his actions.

South Korea fines Special Forces YouTuber for attacking Johnny Somali
In the widely-shared video featuring Dalgeun, he located Somali’s residence and approached him outside. Subsequently, with just one powerful punch, he knocked the live-streamer off balance. However, Dalgeun was later detained following this incident.
He explained on Instagram that he was merely acting according to his responsibilities as a South Korean citizen, when he defended his actions.
Currently, Dalgeun has appealed to his supporters, requesting donations to help cover a potential fine that may amount to approximately $7,000 USD.
On Instagram, a man stated that he had been penalized approximately $7,000 (equivalent to 10 million won) due to an attack on a Somali individual. He appealed to his YouTube audience, asking them to contribute towards clearing his fine by making donations via PayPal.
📰CORRECTION: Earlier, I referred to the “10 million won” fine given to Dalgeun, which was an estimation based on Legal Mindset. While I believe he has the means to pay it, I don’t think it should come from his personal funds, especially if it involves physically disciplining Johnny Somali. To clarify, that amount is approximately $7000 USD.

According to Legal Mindset, who has previously interviewed Dalgeun, he was fined approximately 1.5 million won ($1,000), but it is speculated that the actual fine could reach up to 10 million won. Importantly, this money is not intended for Somali, but instead will be paid to the Korean government.
Fortunately, it appears that Dalgeun will avoid jail time, which was a concern following the incident.
In contrast to some cases, it appears that the situation may not be the same for Johnny Somali. This problematic content creator has admitted guilt in a court of law regarding multiple charges and now faces potential imprisonment due to allegations of creating Deep Fakes.
Besides being implicated in various offenses within the nation, Somali is also under suspicion for numerous other misdeeds such as inappropriate behavior towards children, making threats about spreading HIV, airing North Korean propaganda, and breaching anti-terrorism regulations.
