Johnny Somali reveals plan to leave South Korea amid trial as police confront him

Johnny Somali, the contentious live-streamer, has stated his intention to depart from South Korea using international waters, due to the ongoing long jail term he’s facing domestically.

By the close of 2024, Johnny Somali, whose real name is Ramsey Khalid Ismael, found himself in trouble with South Korean authorities due to multiple disturbances. The live streamer was accused of disrupting business following incidents like creating chaos inside a 7-Eleven store and delaying a bus with excessive music.

Due to the guilty pleas he’s made, he finds himself unable to depart from South Korea because he’s currently undergoing a trial for those offenses. Furthermore, additional charges have been filed against him, which may result in a substantial prison sentence.

Ismael persists with his live broadcasts in Korea, frequently encountering conflicts with both police officers and local residents. Nevertheless, he has made it clear that he plans to depart from the country by sailing through international waters.

Johnny Somali wants to try international waters to leave Korea

During his live stream on April 24th, Somali proposed a plan where he would journey to the Korean coast and embark on a voyage into international waters, hoping to avoid being imprisoned beforehand.

He mentioned that his destination is Incheon, where he plans to hire either a boat or an inflatable raft for the purpose of sailing. Once he ventures out into international waters, he believes he will be beyond their reach.

The legal perspective refuted this claim. “His vessel likely wouldn’t approach international waters due to the nearby islands. His farthest point would probably be an attempt towards North Korea. Any ship attempting that route would be met with gunfire and destruction.

Johnny, a national of Somalia, intends to navigate his vessel on the open seas to steer clear of judicial complications in South Korea. However, it seems a law-abiding perspective suggests this plan might not materialize.

The live-streamer encountered Korean police upon his return to the apartment. Inside the elevator, two policemen were present along with him, leaving him curious about their intentions.

He exclaimed, “What’s your purpose for shadowing me? Why? What are your intentions? What are you after? What indeed?! Leave me alone!” After informing them he was going home, he added, “I’m off to my house, mind your own business. Turn away. Alright, turn away! Yes, look the other way! Please, don’t stare at me!

On the 26th of April, John Somali encountered the South Korean authorities not once but twice within a single day. However, contrary to what you might think, he was neither arrested nor detained. Instead, they repeatedly allowed him to leave their presence multiple times.
