Overwatch 2’s Freja Is Already Broken—Wait Till You See Her Next Buff!

In Overwatch 2 Season 16, Freja has rapidly become one of the strongest characters, and her power is set to increase even more shortly.

In addition to Stadium mode and character restrictions, the Season 16 update also brought a fresh character named Freja into the game’s expanding cast of characters. This Damage Per Second (DPS) hero is skillfully challenging, boasting excellent mobility and dealing significant damage at both short and long range when her abilities are used in sequence.

1. During her initial trial run of the game, she left a powerful impact, and this has persisted since she fully joined us. However, if you’re finding it tough to outperform her in Quick Match or Competitive mode, prepare for even greater challenges ahead.

Freja is already OP in OW2 with massive buff still to come

In less than a week since the launch of Season 16, Overwatch 2 players have been vocal on social media platforms, expressing their opinion that Freja is currently overpowered. A fan on Reddit exclaimed, “It’s surprising no one’s discussing this yet! This character is outrageous,” and another player commented, “This feels like Sojourn all over again.

Many others concurred, sharing stories where top-tier players effortlessly controlled game rooms due to a significant advantage in ultimate ability charge, primarily earned through accumulating kills.

In our game on Freja, my friend kept getting his ultimate ability so frequently, it was almost unbelievable,” someone commented. “At one instance during a single battle, he used it twice! The damage inflicted was immense.

Absolutely, every hero has their strength when wielded skillfully, yet it’s indisputable that Freja stands out as exceptionally formidable due to her immense destructive power and resilience in mid-flight, making her a difficult target.

Additionally, it looks like she’ll be getting an upgrade shortly, which could either be seen as further unfortunate news or exciting, depending on one’s viewpoint.

After her trial in Season 15, Blizzard announced several modifications to the character’s equipment, such as the damage output of her Bola Shot and the precision of her Revdraw Crossbow, with these changes intended for implementation in Season 16. However, upon the release of the update, neither of these adjustments seemed to have been applied.

The devs mentioned this on the “known issues” forum, saying:

It seems the adjustment to Freja’s balance, which was earlier announced, wasn’t included in the last hotfix. However, rest assured, this balance adjustment is planned for an upcoming update.

There’s no definite timeline for the arrival of this update yet, but if you considered Freja overpowered previously, prepare yourself for an even stronger version of her after receiving a significant boost to her damage capabilities.
