However, this could shift if the storyline of Season 2 concludes differently or if Part 2 is adapted differently in Season 3.
Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann recognized the impact Joel’s death would have on viewers, and they didn’t take lightly the task of portraying this pivotal scene in real life.
If the audience’s emotional reaction is not strong, it suggests we may have made a mistake. This doesn’t mean we should congratulate ourselves. Rather, it’s crucial that viewers feel upset, but also find empathy with the characters in the show who are experiencing emotions just as intense, if not more so, than they are – as Mazin explained to THR.
