In 1995, he first appeared on TV as Jack Hawkins in ABC’s short-lived series, Extreme, a search-and-rescue drama. However, his early film roles were more distinguished. In 1996, he took the lead as Jessy Tafero in the television movie In the Blink of an Eye. He also had named parts in some direct-to-DVD productions. But it was during the mid-2000s when Morgan’s career took a significant turn for the better.

Despite being a minor role, it appeared in only two episodes. This brief appearance paved the way for his subsequent successful role. In the same year, 2005, Morgan landed that hit role.

For two years, John, famously portrayed by him, excelled as the Winchester twins’ father. He revisited this role in the 300th episode of the show in 2019. Although he hasn’t appeared since then, his characterization influenced the scriptwriting for the spin-off series, The Winchesters. Additionally, in 2006, Morgan garnered nationwide recognition with his role on Grey’s Anatomy, where he played the adored Denny Duquette in America’s longest-running medical drama.

After an eventful and typically dramatic heart transplant, Duquette’s journey on the show took a tragic turn with a fatal post-operative clot. His untimely demise left a profound impact on the young trainees, leaving Stevens in shock. However, much to our relief as fans, he didn’t fade away completely; instead, his spirit lingered within the narrative. He haunted the storyline until 2009, when his character finally took his leave.

10 years following his initial appearance on “Grey’s Anatomy”, Morgan saw a significant rise in fame due to his exceptional acting in “The Walking Dead“. His remarkable talent and charisma paved the way for him to secure increasingly important roles. Currently, he basks in widespread recognition from various circles and streaming platforms like Netflix, where he can be seen in “Invincible”. In 2023, Morgan reprised his iconic role again in “The Walking Dead: Dead City”.
