Ahead Of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The Franchise’s Flash Thompson Actor Shares One Hope For The Character (And I Have Mixed Feelings)

It appears that Sony’s independent live-action Spider-Verse is no longer active due to a string of flops. In contrast, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man has achieved unprecedented success for a character that’s been filmed numerous times. Before the release of “Brand New Day“, starring Tom Holland, an event never before seen will occur: the acting in a fourth Spiderman movie. Previously, co-star Tony Revolori expressed an idea he’d like to see brought to life, and I find myself torn about it.

In the next Spider-Man movie, we can only speculate about what will transpire. However, since Sony’s Venom series has concluded, it’s not unthinkable that Venom might officially join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If this were to occur, Tony Revolori, who portrays Flash Thompson, has expressed his desire to emulate the comic character and transform into Agent Venom. He shared this aspiration with The Direct…

Absolutely, you get it. I’ve read the same comics as everyone else, and let me tell you, I’d be thrilled beyond words if given the chance to work on something like that. It would be fantastic! As for specifics – what, when, or even if – those are still unknown factors. The goal is to make it happen, the dream is to make it happen. We’ll see if it ever comes to fruition. And if it doesn’t, I’m certain they’ll keep producing top-notch content that I’ll eagerly watch repeatedly. Just being a part of it has already been an incredible experience for me.

In Sony’s Venom trilogy featuring Tom Hardy, we encountered a relatively conventional portrayal of the character. However, over the years in the comics, Venom has bonded with various individuals and traversed numerous locations. One such instance was Flash Thompson, who formed a symbiotic relationship during a U.S. military program. This character came to be known as Agent Venom.

It’s quite an innovative thought if Venom ever enters the MCU. Given that we recently had a trilogy featuring Venom/Eddie Brock and these films are recognized as being in Marvel’s multiverse, doing another similar story might not generate much enthusiasm among fans. Therefore, presenting Venom in a unique way could be more appealing.

It’s wiser to connect Venom with a familiar MCU character instead of introducing everything new. Since fans are already acquainted with this character and Flash, it seems logical to use him. As for Flash, Tony Revolori’s portrayal differs from the traditional comics, which leads to a unique and engaging take on Agent Venom.

As a dedicated Spider-Man fanatic, I can’t help but ponder about the upcoming film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. At this juncture, it remains unclear if Tony Revolori or other recurring actors from previous Spidey flicks will make an appearance. After the mind-blowing events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker’s identity has become a mystery to all. This enigmatic scenario presents the movie with a captivating chance to steer the franchise towards uncharted territories. If every character from the previous films reappears, it might diminish the essence of this “brand new day,” making it feel less like a fresh start and more like a continuation.

In much the same way as many others, I’d be thrilled to witness Tom Holland’s Spider-Man battling Venom someday, no matter what shape that battle might take. If they were to square off against Flash Thompson’s Venom, it wouldn’t be my least favorite scenario. However, I do question whether it’s the ideal choice.
