‘The Accountant 2’ Director Gavin O’Connor Says Anna Kendrick Is ‘A Hundred Percent In’ For Potential Third Film: ‘She and I Have Been Texting’

Despite Anna Kendrick not appearing in the sequel of “The Accountant”, its franchise director, Gavin O’Connor, has indicated that she is prepared to contribute to wrapping up the trilogy.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share the news that, alongside star Ben Affleck and screenwriter Bill Dubuque, O’Connor has revealed to The New York Times that Kendrick is poised to reprise her role as Dana Cummings, Christian Wolff’s love interest, in a potential third installment of our beloved film series. Affleck himself echoed this sentiment, expressing his readiness for another adventure and simply waiting for an outstanding script to bring the trilogy to life.

About Kendrick’s potential involvement, O’Connor mentioned they have had some initial discussions. He himself is working on another mystery film, having done so twice before. Ben stepped in with the comment that he hoped she was still fond of us,” Affleck interjected. Later on, O’Connor mentioned, “To be precise, Ben, she and I have been exchanging messages. She stated she’d definitely join us if that’s what we desire.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, O’Connor expressed that he has long envisioned “The Accountant” series as a trilogy. He further mentioned that the character played by Affleck, Christian, requires this extended narrative span to fully develop his story arc.

When Bill and I began discussing the second film, we emphasized that it wouldn’t be a typical romance. Instead, we envisioned a romantic tale revolving around brothers, similar to action-packed buddy movies like ’48 Hours’ or ‘Midnight Run’. As for the third movie, our goal has always been to resolve Christian’s quest for love and connection. I’m not sure what form that will take yet, but that’s the general idea.
