I’m excited to announce that I’ve been welcomed into the cast of a chilling new horror movie directed by the visionary Darren Aronofsky. Known for his Oscar-nominated films like “Requiem for a Dream” (2000), “The Wrestler” (2008), and the recent “The Whale” (2022) which garnered two wins, Aronofsky’s work often blends intense drama with gripping suspense. However, he has also showcased his prowess in horror-oriented films such as the 2010 psychological thriller “Black Swan,” starring Natalie Portman, and the enigmatic 2017 movie “Mother!” featuring Jennifer Lawrence. I can’t wait to see what unique terrors he will bring to life on this project!
As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that Darren Aronofsky, through his production company Protozoa, is bringing us an impending horror masterpiece titled “Pendulum.” Currently in production in New Mexico, this chilling tale is being directed by Mark Heyman, known for his screenwriting brilliance on “Black Swan,” marking his debut as a feature film director.
The narrative unfolds with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Phoebe Dynevor portraying a couple who find themselves entangled in the enigmatic web of a cultish group at a menacing retreat in New Mexico. Intriguingly, Norman Reedus enters the scene as the friend who alerts them to this mysterious retreat.
Here’s a sneak peek at the movie’s synopsis: [Synopsis text]
I can hardly wait for the chilling suspense and gripping performances that “Pendulum” promises to deliver!
A pendulum narrative explores the story of Patrick (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and his partner Abigail (portrayed by Phoebe Dynevor), as they venture towards a mystical retreat in New Mexico, seeking solace following a harrowing incident. Eager to aid his wife, Patrick is initially open to the retreat’s enigmatic guru; however, his trust wanes as Abigail gets ensnared by her allure. With paranoia mounting, the couple must discern whether the unorthodox spiritual rituals practiced within the group offer authentic healing or conceal a chilling secret that could devour them both.
The production of the pendulum is entirely funded by C2, with Dave Caplan from C2, as well as Jacob Jaffke and Élan Klein Jaffke from Motel Mojave, also being involved in its creation.
