The action-packed game, Steel Hunters, has just emerged from Early Access, yet Wargaming is swiftly expanding its cast of characters. The latest addition to the game is a formidable character named Taurus. This newcomer is designed to plow through anything that crosses his path within Steel Hunters.
On April 29th (Version 0.41), I found myself drawn to Taurus – a creation designed with a singular purpose: closing in for an intimate inspection and causing quite the commotion!
Built Like a Bull, Hits Like a Truck
Taurus isn’t one for finesse; he’s built as a head-on fighter, always ready to plunge into battles armed with a Heavy Shotgun and an attack known as Bull Charge, which lives up to its name. If you’re looking for a mech that excels in the intensity of close-quarter conflicts, then Taurus might just be your match.
With his Territorial Tower, he can assert control over areas and transform minor conflicts into intense battles. This isn’t a mech you choose for stealthy maneuvers or delicate tactics – it’s the one you select when you want your opponents to spot you from afar and still tremble with fear.
Unlocking Taurus
As a gamer, here are my three methods to grab the fresh Hunter for my team:
1. First off, I can directly purchase the new Hunter using in-game currency that I’ve accumulated through my gaming adventures.
2. Secondly, I could upgrade my Battle Pass level to access this awesome new character as a reward.
3. Last but not least, if I manage to reach the highest tier of the Battle Pass, there’s a chance I’ll get this Hunter for free!
Free Path: Reach level 59 in the PRO Battle Pass (100 Platinum).
Instant Unlock: Go PREMIUM and get him right away for 200 Platinum total.
Missed the pass? Don’t worry – he’ll be available for Constructs in Version 0.42.
Wargaming is true to their promise that Hunters will remain available for everyone, despite the fact that the quick-access route offers certain benefits for Platinum members.
A Meta Shake-Up?
In its early stages, Taurus appears to be revolutionizing the strategy for close-quarter battles among players. Traditionally, Hunters rely heavily on ranged harassment or hybrid weapons. However, Taurus seems to favor a different tactic – applying pressure and causing disruptions. If teamed up with an effective long-range support, Taurus could become quite troublesome for opponents.
In addition to the game’s initial strides toward a Melee 2.0 update, which could potentially enhance close combat, is another exciting development. This, coupled with various internal adjustments such as user interface improvements, balance adjustments for hunters, and new visuals for interactive objects, makes Version 0.41 not just a content addition, but a substantial upgrade in terms of overall quality and user experience.
First New Hunter, But Definitely Not the Last
Taurus adds an exciting mix to Steel Hunters’ debut lineup, and it’s fantastic that Wargaming is swiftly delivering fresh content. Since the brawler type was missing at launch, this seems like more than just a new character—it indicates that the developers are heeding player preferences.
If this is the pace we can expect from future updates, mech fans have plenty to get excited about.
Steel Hunters is available now in Early Access, with Taurus charging in on April 29.
