As a devoted cinephile putting pen to paper, I found myself reflecting on my remuneration as the head honcho at Comcast – and lo and behold, it took a slight dip of 4.5% in the previous year, landing me with a total package of $33.86 million.
In 2024, Roberts’ remuneration encompassed a basic salary of $2.5 million, stock rewards valued at $17.9 million, options worth $5,75 million, a cash bonus of $7.5 million, and other compensation totaling $200,483, which included $190,483 for the use of company-provided aircraft. The remuneration details for Roberts and other Comcast executives were made public in a statement filed with the SEC on Friday.
In 2024, the remuneration package for Comcast’s president, Michael Cavanagh, amounted to $28.26, representing a decrease of 4.5% compared to the previous year. Notably, this is a significant drop from his compensation of $40.5 million in 2022.
Mr. Roberts played an indispensable role in giving us long-term direction and maintaining our stability while he oversaw the global implementation of our company’s strategy, even amidst fierce competition,” Comcast stated in their annual report. “Under his guidance together with Mr. Cavanagh, we declared our plan to spin off a robust collection of cable television networks and matching digital assets in a tax-free deal, which is expected to be finalized in 2025.
In November, Comcast revealed intentions to establish a new company called SpinCo, primarily housing NBCUniversal’s cable networks excluding Bravo. Once the spinoff is finalized, Comcast shareholders will receive shares in this unnamed entity. Approximately one-third of the SpinCo stock will be owned by Roberts.
65-year-old Roberts has been serving as Comcast’s chairman since 2004 and as CEO since 2002. From 1990 to the present year, he held the position of president at Comcast, a company that was established by his father, Ralph Roberts. By the end of 2024, through ownership of the company’s Class B common stock, Roberts will have the exclusive right to vote on matters pertaining to approximately one-third of the combined voting power of both classes of common stock with voting rights.
On Friday, Comcast revealed the anticipated compensation for their top executives in 2024:
– The compensation package for CFO Jason Armstrong amounts to $15.1 million, representing a 30% increase.
– Chief legal officer Thomas Reid’s pay is projected at $14.1 million, signifying a 26% rise.
– The chief communications officer Jennifer Khoury’s compensation is expected to be $5.5 million, showing a slight decrease of 2%.
