Action film legend Vin Diesel hints at a forthcoming, eagerly anticipated update for his eagerly awaited science fiction sequel, famously known as “Riddick 4”. Titled “Riddick: Furya”, this sci-fi action spinoff promises to delve into the enigmatic past of Diesel’s iconic character, who was first introduced in the year 2000 action sci-fi film, “Pitch Black”. Over time, Riddick has evolved from a mysterious convict into a complex figure, with his backstory further developed in two sequels, “The Chronicles of Riddick” and “Riddick”. With the conclusion of the Fast and Furious series, Diesel expresses hope that the world of Riddick will become his next significant franchise.
Diesel, through social media, recently posted an image of Riddick displaying his gleaming eyes, hinting vaguely about something coming up. At this point, he’s only given us a sneak peek, but considering that filming for Riddick: Furya started in August the previous year, it’s likely we may soon receive our first official photos from the upcoming sequel, or even a trailer.
Furya” has been unveiled, which goes as follows:
(The synopsis for Riddick: Furya)
In the end, Riddick makes his way back to his original planet, a place that’s familiar yet terrifying due to potential destruction. Upon arrival, he discovers other Furyan survivors battling against a fresh threat. Remarkably, some of these fighters share striking similarities with Riddick himself.
‘Riddick: Furya’ Will See a Return to Riddick’s Homeworld
25 years ago, the iconic character Riddick, played by Vin Diesel, was initially introduced in the critically acclaimed sci-fi horror film Pitch Black. Over time, Riddick has become one of Diesel’s most cherished roles and franchises. In the original movie, we follow a crew whose spaceship crashes on a planet inhabited by night creatures. However, the sequel, released in 2004 as The Chronicles of Riddick, took the series to new heights, transforming it into an expansive intergalactic sci-fi saga. In this film, we learn that the enigmatic criminal Riddick, whom we previously assumed was human, is actually the last surviving member of a powerful alien race known as Furyans.
Unlike its previous version, the subsequent film received mostly unfavorable criticism and underperformed financially. Consequently, the 2013 movie titled “Riddick” steered the series towards a more modest scale, narrating another confined story where Riddick, stranded on a perilous planet, must avoid a ruthless band of mercenaries once again. Vin Diesel has longed for a fourth installment, with original director David Twohy hinting at how the sequel will delve into Riddick’s backstory.
As a passionate movie enthusiast who’s been following the Riddick saga for two decades, I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming release of “Riddick: Furya”. For years, the legion of fans have been calling for this film, and now we’re finally ready to answer their call with a story that honors their patience.
Over the past 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Vin Diesel and One Race, bringing the character of Riddick to life in three movies, two video games, an anime series, and even motion comics for online viewing. Now, we’re taking this journey one step further with a big-screen event that delves deep into Riddick’s origins, shedding light on the genesis of this iconic character.
