„We’re focusing on single-player games.” 11 bit studios presented its plan for the next few years

11 bit studios, the team behind Frostpunk and The Alters, recently gathered to share their game development roadmap as a gamer, I can’t wait to see what exciting projects they have in store for us next!

The team intends to primarily develop games for individual players, although they may incorporate social features and multiplayer options as additional elements, serving to enhance rather than overshadow the primary focus on solo gaming experiences.

Three pillars of 11 bit studios

The further development of the company will be based on three pillars:

  1. Pillar A refers to games based on new or selected IP of the company. These projects will be produced by the internal teams of 11 bit studios. The company wants these type of games to be created by teams of 30-60 people, and their development is expected to take about 4 years.
  2. Pillar B is the development of the company’s popular games. The key here is for a given production to maintain a large player base and for new features and expansion to be developed in a relatively short time.
  3. Pillar C is the publishing of games from other studios. Their budgets are expected to be between 1 and 2 million dollars. One of these projects is waiting for an announcement.

Incidentally, 11 bit recently released their financial report. Last year, they earned approximately 140 million PLN, which is around 37 million USD. Their operational activities led to a loss of about 2.8 million PLN, or roughly 700,000 USD, but they managed to net a profit of nearly 6.9 million PLN, equivalent to around 2 million USD.

During the conference, a handful of additional pieces of information were also conveyed.

  1. The Thaumaturge and Creatures of Ava still haven’t earn for themselves.
  2. The Alters is the second most frequently added game to the wishlists of Steam users from 11 bit studios (Frostpunk 2 remains the leader). The game is set to take about 25 hours to finish.
  3. Moonlighter 2 will be available on Game Pass from the moment of its release.
  4. Work has already begun on the next new game (P12) from the studio. Next in line are P13 (from the team behind Frostpunk 2) and P14 (from the creators of The Alters).
  5. In May, there will be an event for industry media.

11 bit studios also announced a new-old game: Frostpunk: 1886.
