According to our sources, Sydney Sweeney will appear in a cinematic version of the popular video game “Split Fiction.” Jon M. Chu is set to be the director for this project. The film’s script is being crafted by the talented duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who have previously worked on “Deadpool” and “Wolverine.
The upcoming movie titled “Split Fiction” will be produced by Mike Goldberg and Dmitri M. Johnson’s production company, Story Kitchen (formerly known as dj2 Entertainment), along with Chu’s Electric Somewhere. Sweeney will serve as an executive producer for this project, as they are currently shopping the talent package to various studios.
Hailing from developers Hazelight Studios and publishers Electronic Arts, the captivating “Split Fiction” seamlessly combines elements of fantasy and science fiction. This narrative revolves around two writers, Mio and Zoe, who find themselves mysteriously stuck in the very stories they penned. Penned by director Josef Fares and Sebastian Johansson from Hazelight Studios, “Split Fiction” is a cooperative adventure game filled with unique split-screen combat sequences, platforming challenges, and distinctive abilities for each character.
As I, your trusted movie reviewer, eagerly anticipate the upcoming film, I’ve learned from my reliable sources that it remains undecided who the talented actress Sweeney will embody between the captivating Zoe and the intriguing Mio. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project!
Released on the 6th of March, the game has been a sensation among both players and critics, earning numerous positive reviews and substantial sales. As per Hazelight, the game surpassed two million copies sold within its first week of release, with this number still climbing at an impressive rate.
It was initially announced by EbMaster that the “Split Fiction” movie was being developed, and had sparked interest among leading Hollywood production companies, triggering a competitive bidding process, at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco back in March.
This package is overseen by Goldberg and Johnson’s Story Kitchen, a highly influential force in the world of video games turning into movies. Currently, they are involved in productions like the “Sonic the Hedgehog” films, the “Tomb Raider” franchise that recently premiered an animated series on Netflix in October 2024, the upcoming “Streets of Rage” adaptation at Lionsgate, and movies based on “It Takes Two” from the studio behind “Split Fiction,” as well as “ToeJam & Earl” at Amazon MGM Studios.
