The much-anticipated film, titled “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,” has confirmed a popular choice for a significant role. McKenna Grace is now part of the cast, portraying Maysilee Donner – one of the contestants involved in the deadly competition.
Announced recently is Grace in the role of Haymitch Abernathy’s fellow District 12 tribute for the Quarter Quell, which is a part of the upcoming film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ latest novel within the Hunger Games series. Joseph Zada will be portraying young Haymitch, and Whitney Peak has been cast as Lenore Dove Baird, Haymitch’s girlfriend. The movie is scheduled to premiere in theaters on November 20, 206.
McKenna Grace is an actress who has been working in the industry since she was just five years old. She gained Emmy recognition for her portrayal of the abused teenager Esther Keyes in a series between 2021-2022, becoming the first child to be nominated for a guest acting Emmy award in a drama series. Following this, she has been seen in the Ghostbusters franchise as Phebe Spengler and portrayed Young Carol Danvers in the MCU’s Captain Marvel. The upcoming Hunger Games prequel is one of several films that Grace is currently working on, alongside Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and Scream 7.
In the Jennifer Lawrence-led movies, Grace’s portrayal of Maysilee Donner is pivotal, featuring significant connections with characters that fans will recall. She forged a strong bond with Haymitch Abernathy during their Hunger Games, and was also acquainted with Asterid Everdeen, Katniss’ mother. The book characterizes her as the “snootiest girl in town,” sporting straight blonde hair and blue eyes.
