Rob Lowe, Crispin Glover and Roselyn Sanchez Horror ‘The Third Parent’ Boarded by HanWay, Sales Launching in Cannes (EXCLUSIVE)

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve become part of the team working on “The Third Parent,” an upcoming horror movie featuring Rob Lowe, known for his stellar performances in shows like “The West Wing” and “St. Elmo’s Fire.” Joining him is the multi-talented Crispin Glover, who’s best remembered for his roles in “Back to the Future” and “River’s Edge,” as well as Roselyn Sanchez, recognized for her work in “Fantasy Island” and “Rush Hour 2.” HanWay Films will be taking this project to the global stage by launching international sales at Cannes. I can hardly wait to see it unfold!

David Michaels, a debuting producer at The Walter Media Group, has written, directed, and produced the newly completed movie. Bleecker Street has purchased the rights for North American distribution and plans to showcase the film across U.S. cinemas.

Bethany Milner, Rafael de Belligny, and Jack Roberts complete the ensemble for “The Trap”, “Lord of the Flies” on BBC, and “Remnants” respectively.

The Third Parent” is a movie adaptation that follows the chilling and supernatural character of Tommy Taffy, originally featured in the viral “creepypasta” series by author Elias Witherow. In this storyline, we witness Tommy’s ominous intrusion into the Hollow family home and his disturbing debut on the silver screen.

The narrative unfolds around Mason Lowe, a middle-aged father residing with his wife Megan Sanchez and their two kids in a tranquil American suburban setting. On the surface, they seem to embody the ideal nuclear family, but beneath this facade, the strains of modern life’s daily challenges are all too evident within their household.

On a tranquil Fourth of July afternoon, an enigmatic character named Tommy Taffy (Glover) appears at their doorstep, setting off a sequence of harrowing events where he forces the family to carry out a string of frightening and inexplicable “life lessons.” Mason and Megan have no choice but to comply with his orders, as he menaces their young children. At first, this twisted ordeal sparks sheer terror and a frenzied struggle for existence. However, as Tommy subjects the family to escalating mental and physical torment through ever more brutal acts of control, they gradually learn to cooperate and unite in order to expel this malevolent intruder from their lives forever.

The Third Parent” is created by Gary Michael Walters (known for ‘Whiplash’, ‘Nightcrawler’, ‘Legion’, and ‘Drive’) under the banner of Walters Media Group, who hold the rights to the intellectual property. Lowe, Spencer Young for Enfant Terrible, Jonathan Halperyn and Daniel Kresmery for Hero Squared are also involved in its production. Jack Roberts represents Lesnik Entertainment as an executive producer, while Drake Dowd and Kristen Gilot-Dowd from Dowd Films, and Andrew Karpen and Kent Sanderson from Bleecker Street are also serving as executive producers.

The departments are headed by individuals such as Jérôme Eltabet serving as editor for “The Substance” and “Revenge”; Tim Maurice-Jones as the cinematographer known for his work on “Speak No Evil,” “Woman in Black,” “Kick Ass,” and “Snatch”; Evan Webber, a production designer recognized for projects like “Shape of Water,” “Handmaid’s Tale,” and “Pan’s Labyrinth”; and Butch Vig, who has collaborated with notable bands including Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and Garbage, as the composer.

Gabrielle Stewart, CEO of HanWay Films, expressed her excitement about introducing Third Parent at the Cannes market. She anticipates sharing some clips with potential buyers. Tommy Taffy is an exceptional intellectual property that HanWay Films is developing into a horror series.
