2023 saw IO Interactive co-founder Janos Flösser team up with seasoned developers who had previously contributed to iconic games like Tomb Raider, Hitman, Deus Ex, and Just Cause, to establish Wombo Games. Now, this innovative studio is offering a sneak peek into their debut project – Raiders of Blackveil, a thrilling blend of roguelite gameplay and action-RPG elements.
In the game titled “Raiders of Blackveil,” you can play alone or team up with two other players. The setting is a distopian industrial fantasy realm where an oppressive corporation named Blackveil controls humans and anthropomorphic animals. These enslaved creatures are fighting back with armed resistance, aiming to overthrow the Blackveil regime and reclaim their liberty as well as their world.
As stated by Wombo Games, Raiders of Blackveil promises to offer an immensely strategic gaming experience, seamlessly combining elements inspired from Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas (MOBA), Role-Playing Game (RPG) loot systems, and Player vs Environment extraction gameplay. At the moment, interested players can add this game to their wishlist on Steam.
In a statement, Flösser expressed the long-awaited excitement as Wombo Games, after working on Raiders of Blackveil for close to two years, is now ready to introduce it to the global community. As their inaugural title, Raiders of Blackveil holds a unique significance for us since every team member at Wombo has played a direct role in its creation. At Wombo Games, we pride ourselves on making decisions collectively, and we intend to maintain this approach by incorporating feedback from our players as we prepare for an early access launch later this year.
