The show “Taboo,” featuring Tom Hardy, premiered in 2017 and tells the tale of James Keziah Delaney, a daring adventurer who constructs his own trading empire during the early 19th century. Two months after its initial airing in January, it was confirmed that another season would follow, but as of now, we’re yet to see it.

It’s been eight years since we last saw Taboo, and while fans eagerly await its return, some have started to question if it will ever come back. Given the length of time that’s passed, it’s not uncommon for TV shows to never resume after such a long hiatus. However, Tom Hardy, during an interview with MovieWeb, sought to reassure Taboo fans by confirming that work on new episodes is currently in progress. He also provided some insight into the reasons behind the significant delay.

Taboo is a project that my family, Steven [Knight], and I have been eager to work on meticulously. Although I’ve been busy with Venom for the past seven years, I’ve always kept it in mind as something I’m deeply passionate about. When I find the right time to dedicate myself fully, I plan to revisit and give it the attention it deserves. In other words, it’s not that we didn’t want to work on it; rather, we wanted to ensure we had the opportunity to do it justice when the timing was right.

Hardy confidently predicts a comeback for Taboo, but he can’t specify exactly when this will happen due to the schedules of those involved needing to align perfectly for full engagement in the project. Nonetheless, Hardy remains dedicated to delivering an exceptional viewing experience, as his enthusiasm for the project is evident.

As a fellow Taboo enthusiast, I must say that the tidbits we’ve received so far should suffice for now. We need to exercise patience, understanding that the wait might stretch beyond the eight years we’ve already endured.
