Genre-Blending Horror Film ‘Traumatika’ to See North American Theatrical Release from Saban Films

The daring and visually striking horror movie titled “Traumatika,” which is experimental in nature, has been acquired by Saban Films for distribution across North America.

The project, titled “Two Witches,” originates from co-writers and directors Pierre Tsigaridis and Maxime Rancon, with the latter also acting as producer. Saban is planning a theatrical debut in the year 2025. Additionally, Rancon holds the position of executive producer for this production.

The movie titled “Traumatika” has made its mark on events like Australia’s FrightFest and other indie horror circuits, garnering positive early reviews for its innovative genre-blending and multi-perspective approach in weaving a chilling narrative. The story revolves around Mikey, whose disturbing nightmares become a grim reality as his mother exhibits symptoms of demonic possession. This harrowing journey will leave an indelible mark on Mikey’s life and result in the loss of numerous lives across generations.

Saban Films co-presidents Jonathan Saba and Shanan Becker expressed, “This is not just a movie you watch, it’s a movie you live through. There’s no better way to immerse yourself in this experience than on the big screen.” They further caution, “Be prepared for the intensely unsettling film that Pierre and Maxime have crafted. These are truly visionary, mad genius storytellers. Proceed with caution.

Tsigaridis joins forces with actress Rebekah Kennedy, who starred in “Two Witches” with him, in a new cast that also features AJ Bowen known for his roles in “You’re Next” and “House of the Devil”, Sean Whalen recognized from “The People Under the Stairs”, Ranen Navat of “Lucy and the Lake Monster”, Emily Goss from “The Accident”, and Susan Gayle Watts from “To Hell and Gone”.

The director described the movie as skillfully combining the chilling fear of demonic possession, the gripping intensity of slasher films, and the raw authenticity of found footage movies. Rancon stated that “Traumatika” is essentially a heartfelt tribute to the horror subgenres we were passionate about in our youth. It’s an unnerving, unforgiving rollercoaster ride.

In this transaction, Saba acted as the representative for Saban, while Andrew van den Houten from 79th & Broadway Entertainment represented the filmmakers.

Last year’s FrightFest screening was just the beginning for my movie. It went on to be showcased at numerous international festivals such as the San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Film Festival, Morbido Film Fest, Fantaspoa, and GrimmFest. I couldn’t believe my luck!
