Ethan Coen’s ‘Honey Don’t!’ With Margaret Qualley, Chris Evans and Aubrey Plaza Sets August Theatrical Release

Sweetheart, why don’t you consider going to watch a movie? The dark comedy “Honey Don’t!” by Ethan Coen is set to hit wide U.S. theaters on August 22, distributed by Focus Features.

The movie, featuring Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, and Chris Evans, revolves around Honey O’Donahue, a detective from a small town who investigates a string of peculiar deaths linked to a mystifying church. In addition, Charlie Day and Billy Eichner are part of the cast, with the script penned by the Coen siblings, Coen and Tricia Cooke.

The film titled “Honey Don’t!” from Working Title is set to debut for the first time at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, specifically in the midnight section. Universal Pictures International will be responsible for worldwide distribution of the movie outside the home country.

Previously, Qualley collaborated with Coen and Cooke in the production of “Drive-Away Dolls,” which was the initial installment of their lesbian B-movie series. The sequel, titled “Honey Don’t,” follows this storyline.

Earlier this month, Qualley discussed her part in “Honey Don’t!” with i-D, describing her character as “honey-like”: “She’s clever, she’s sleek, and she moves around unnoticed,” she explained. She further mentioned that she needed to restrain her usual spontaneous nature “to appear more sophisticated and mysterious rather than diffusing situations before they even arise.

She went on to say, ‘A girl doesn’t have to learn to be a detective.’ Women have an uncanny ability to perceive things, even when they appear unclear. I can recall my keen investigative abilities on Instagram during my twenties; they were quite extraordinary. It’s a blend of resources, intuition, and skill.

Producers on the film include Coen, Cooke, Robert Graf, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.
