Demi Moore is still pondering over her experience during the award season, approximately two months since the Oscars. At that event, she was nominated alongside rising star Mikey Madison from “Anora” in the category of Best Actress for her role in “The Substance.
During the Time100 Summit, Moore addressed speculations about her not receiving an Oscar and was queried if she envisions herself appearing on the Oscars stage in the future.
Moore joked about potentially winning an Oscar someday, saying he wouldn’t mind it at all. However, he doesn’t question whether he deserves the award. Instead, he views everything that happens in his life as happening ‘for’ him, not ‘to’ him, because he hasn’t won one yet.”
Or
“Moore playfully suggested that winning an Oscar might be nice, but he doesn’t ponder over whether he should have won it. Instead, he sees every event in his life as a positive opportunity rather than a challenge, since he hasn’t received the award.
Moore commented, “It doesn’t imply that there isn’t a sense of letdown, sorrow, or things not turning out as desired. However, when I view it from this perspective, it enables me to take a step back and question, ‘What is this trying to teach or show me?’
Moore was generally expected to win the Oscar for best actress following her Golden Globe victory at the start of awards season. Yet, she acknowledged feeling disappointed upon losing to Madison. “Of course there’s a sense of letdown,” she expressed. “However, I instantly understand that there’s something bigger than myself that I am meant to serve, even if I don’t yet know what that may be.
As a movie buff, I always cherish the Awards Season not just for the accolades, but also for the camaraderie with fellow nominees. One such delight was connecting with the talented Mikey Madison. Her acting was simply remarkable and left me in awe. It seems unusual to have competition in an art form like this, doesn’t it?
Although Moore once considered an Oscar victory as the culmination of her journey associated with “The Substance,” she now acknowledges, “The takeaway is that there’s still more ground to cover. This matter remains unresolved.
Moore expressed regret towards those who held expectations for him, acknowledging the sense of collective letdown that seemed more overwhelming than just his personal situation.
Last week, an article appeared in Time magazine where Moore expressed that she didn’t experience a sense of emptiness upon losing the Oscar, instead saying, “I think it’s going to Mikey” to her manager.
Director Coralie Fargeat’s grisly body-horror film titled ‘The Substance’ received five nominations at the Academy Awards and took home one award in the category of Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
Next up, Moore is set to appear in the movie “I Love Boosters,” directed by Boots Riley. Joining him will be Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, and LaKeith Stanfield.
