‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Sets Third and Final Season Release Date

The teenage drama series “The Summer I Turned Pretty” by Amazon Prime Video will come back with its concluding season on July 16.

Back in March, it was announced that the third season would be the show’s final one. The upcoming season will consist of 11 episodes. “The Summer I Turned Pretty” revolves around a romantic entanglement between Belly Conklin (played by Lola Tung) and two brothers, specifically Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).

Additional cast members include Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, Sean Kaufman and Rain Spencer.

The TV series is based on Jenny Han’s young adult book trilogy, which starts with “The Summer I Turned Pretty.” It is jointly produced by Amazon Studios and wiip. Han and Kucserka are the showrunners. Alongside them, Han, Kucserka, and Karen Rosenfelt serve as executive producers. Additionally, Paul Lee, Mads Hansen, and Hope Hartman from wiip also hold executive producer positions.

For each past season, a story was taken from Han’s trilogy. Starting with “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” the series continued with “It’s Not Summer Without You” and culminated in “We’ll Always Have Summer.”

The previous seasons were based on books from Han’s trilogy, with the first being “The Summer I Turned Pretty”, then came “It’s Not Summer Without You” and finally “We’ll Always Have Summer”.

Previously, Han’s books served as inspiration for the “To All the Boys” movie series on Netflix. Moreover, she serves as an executive producer for the spin-off series “XO, Kitty,” also on Netflix, which features Anna Cathcart and was recently renewed for a third season.

Han shared with EbMaster that if ‘To All the Boys’ hadn’t been made, he might not have felt confident enough to assure that ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ would feature a lead character of Asian descent.
