Steam Just Made It Easier For Devs To Promote Their Games’ Accessibility Features

Steam is introducing a fresh survey for game creators aimed at simplifying the process of showcasing accessibility aspects within their video games. By the year 2025, players will find it more convenient to locate games featuring specific accessibility options with ease.

The details about these updates were shared in a blog post on April 22. Now, within the “Edit Store” section for a game on Steamworks, developers have the opportunity to fill out an accessibility support questionnaire. This questionnaire allows them to verify that their game offers different accessibility options such as gameplay adjustments, audio settings, visual features, and input controls. Developers can then choose to indicate the level of accessibility their game provides.

Currently, these details are exclusively accessible within Steamworks. However, as we move forward in the year, you’ll find that this information becomes more publicly useful. Developers will eventually be allowed to display information from this questionnaire on their Steam Store and App pages. Additionally, Steam users will soon have the ability to search for specific accessibility features. Valve has confirmed the following accessibility filters for search:
