Currently, there’s a lot of excitement among gamers regarding The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. This updated role-playing game was launched yesterday afternoon and has already drawn quite a crowd. As I write this article, it appears that nearly 100,000 players are enjoying the game. It’s not impossible that among these enthusiastic gamers might be some of the creators behind the Skyblivion mod.
The creators of the mod announced on X that Bethesda provided game keys for the newly released Oblivion Remastered as a celebration to their team. Additionally, they expressed gratitude towards the studio for their backing of their project.

This action is certainly thoughtful, and it’s refreshing to observe some production studios backing their modding groups and initiatives rather than dismantling them (you know who you are, Rockstar). It’s worth acknowledging that Bethesda had a strong rationale for halting the development of Skyblivion, but the studio has made it clear that they have no intention of doing so, a point reinforced by the mod creators themselves.
Bethesda clarified explicitly that they don’t plan on ending the progress we’re making on this project.
Despite initial assumptions that Oblivion Remastered could pose an issue for Skyblivion, it’s important to note that the modders don’t share this view. This ambitious project, driven by passion rather than profit, as declared by its creators, is designed to benefit players greatly. They will have the opportunity to explore the enhanced Cyrodiil in two distinct versions.
2025 is the anticipated year for the Skyblivion launch; however, given its substantial scale, there might be unforeseen delays along the way.
